Guest guest
Hi, Debra; Welcome to the group! Yes, start slowly. Based on this first reaction, I would keep it at 1 cap of each per day for several days. If he is overweight, is there a chance he may also be diabetic? I'm wondering if the enzymes may have caused a hypoglycemic effect? That would be rare, but not out of the question. May be the reason for the lethargy. Perhaps using only Pep next time would be an idea, see if the same reaction occurs. Then try Zyme Prime only for the same. Keep us posted. Guest guest
Debra, My son has been on Houston's Peptizyde and Zyme Prime two weeks tomorrow and all he wanted to do the first week was sleep and rest too. He turns three this Sunday. He developed a cough with mucus within two days of starting the enzymes, so I wasn't sure if he was coming down with something and that is why he was tired or if it was all enzyme related. Everyone in the group here was and are very helpful though so you're in good hands. I can tell you that this week the cough and the tiredness are improving. We weren't GFCF either. We just ordered the enzymes and started them when they came in the mail. He wasn't drinking milk though. He's never really cared for it and once I took it away he never wanted it even after I tried to reintroduce again after the enzymes. KIM new member intro & peptizye /zyme question Hello My name is Debra and i have an 11 yr old son with mild(ish) aspergers syndrome..we took him out of school 4 yrs ago when he was 7 as he was feeling suicidal with the stress of the crowded classroom environment (and the mindnumbingly boring UK national curriculum) 3 yrs on an autonomous style of home education saw remarkable changes in him and at last his intellect could be satiated. However this last year puberty has kicked in with a huge increase in weight gain and a lethargy like ive not seen before:-( He craves wheat products and gets through an alarming amount of bread :-/ and his sensitiviy to sounds is getting worse ( he cant bear the hoover the hairdryer the washing machine! its really difficult :-( So we decided to try a gluten free diet to see if his energy levels would go back up and the dark circles around his eyes would go ( he gets lots of sleep but it doesnt show) He only lasted 4 days! he was in such a state that i decided removing the wheat would cause more probs than benefits . I heard very recently about enzymes so we have ordered the Housten peptyzide and zyme prime..they came this morning and hes taken 1 of each with his breakfast meal..Im going to introduce them slowly..as hes not gluten or casien free he could have quite a big reaction. Having said that his intial reaction was to look and feel very spaced out..he couldnt keep hs eyes open and wanted to lie down straight away..Is there anyone else whos had this reaction trying the enzymes with a non GFCF diet? Glad i found this group..its going to be a big help :-) Regards Debra.

Guest guest
> > My son has been on Houston's Peptizyde and Zyme Prime two weeks tomorrow and all he wanted to do the first week was sleep and rest to Hi Kim..this is useful to know, its also good to go through this with other parents who are not starting from a GFCF diet as well :-) I did wonder if the tiredness was a reaction to having experienced thorough digestion for once! especially as his hunger level really dropped just after having breakfast with enzymes. He is really keen to take them, he even managed to take the caps whole with water (much to my surprise!) Thanks again Debra.
Guest guest
Hi Debra. I have a 9 and 11 year old...some of the 'older' kids. My sons found the school days loooooong and it was really hard on the first one until we founds a medicine and enzymes. I still think the days are too long, though. I am keeping an eye on that puberty thing too, so if you have any suggestions let me know. >>>He craves wheat products and gets through an alarming amount of bread This seems common for typical boys though because of the increase rate of growth. There even seems to be a weight gain before a spurt. Does he do any type of physical exercise? >>>>and his sensitiviy to sounds is getting worse ( he cant bear the hoover the hairdryer the washing machine! its really difficult Yes, my older son was insanely sound sensitive for a long time. He is much better now. Does your son sleep solidly even though he is asleep? If he is not getting enough of the really deep sleep, this can really make one more sensitive to everything. Just imagine how chipper any adult would be sleep-deprived night after night. We eventually found a medicine that was geared to helping induce deep sound sleep and pain, and with this my son's sensory problem plummeted. The doctor said the pain regulation is tied to some extent to deep sleep but they don't know exactly how it works. >>>>i decided removing the wheat would cause more probs than benefits . Same here. Particularly with kids that are no longer preschoolers, socializing and activities can be a major problem with food issues. We tried GFCF diet for a couple months before Peptizyde came out. Then it worked for us and switched immediately. My boys also remind us about enzymes and always take them. >>> Having said that his intial reaction was to look and feel very spaced out..he couldnt keep hs eyes open and wanted to lie down straight away..Is there anyone else whos had this reaction trying the enzymes with a non GFCF diet? This is not unusual because there is a lot of adjustment going on inside the body. If he has any bacteria or yeast overgrowth there can be die-off which can look like cold or flu symptoms. Even so, when you change diet or digestion there can be a shifting in the bacteria population or blood sugar levels. With older people, there may be 'gunk' and undigested stuff in the gut that the enzymes would be cleaning out. One of my sons had the loose stools for a couple days but the other didn't. It varies by person. Here is a link to possible adjustment effects: http://www.enzymestuff.com/discussionadjustments.htm .
Guest guest
Excessive fatigue *can* be indicative of a yeast overgrowth. Does he complain of vague muscle aches or headaches? All of that bread could be feeding quite a party of yeast. Ever had problems with it before? Just thinking... Guest guest
> walking tires him enourmously..he has an exagerated lumbar curve and > what with the weight gain his back is aching. Once the enzyme adjustment has passed, consider giving him zinc. I have back problems and zinc is very helpful. The yeast ideas are also good http://www.danasview.net/yeast.htm Enzymes will probably help, altho you might want to keep it down to one capsule per day for a week or so, then increase to two, etc. Dana

Guest guest
That's wonderful about the trampoline. I bought one for us 2 years ago, not only did it help physically, but ph seemed better able to talk, comprehend, do therapy not only while he was on it, but immediately afterwards also.
