Guest guest
Hi can I get some help please? My 8yr old son with AS is 100% GF/CF, salicylate, amine and egg free(for 2 years) and I want to start enzymes and maybe introduce a normal diet. I have given him ZP and PEP regularly for two weeks last year when we were travelling and he seemed fine. But when I only used them for diet infractions they didn't seem to work. Does anyone know why? I get the feeling they must be used regularly for best results. I want to try to get it done (started at least) in the two weeks of school holidays starting 21st. Does anyone out there caution against doing it too fast? I was thinking about starting with a couple of days just on ZPrime and then introduce Pep and do No-Fenol last as there seems to be more side effects with NF. Does that sound OK? I am thinking that I will only use Pep and NO- Fenol as maintainence. Does that also sound reasonable? Which enzymes would be used for egg and amines, does anyone know? Yes, altho Zyme Prime targets more foods, so if he is eating foods which the Peptizyde and No-Fenol do not target, you will possibly see problem issues. > Which enzymes would be used for egg and amines, does anyone know? I would consider Peptizyde or Zyme Prime for eggs, altho enzymes do not help my kids with eggs yet. No-Fenol for amines. Dana
Guest guest
The order of introduction sounds like what I normally " read " as a good way to start enzymes, but the question is can you handle the " die off " " withdrawal " etc. associated with so many enzymes at once? I'm not very scientific, I went cold turkey GFCF, but I was desperate to help Jojo, I couldn't stand one more minute of what we were going through. I started the Ojibwa Tea and DMG simultaneously too. About the only thing I went slowly on were the enzymes, but only because we had so much improvement on the other things that I had the patience to " wait " or rather " go slowly " . I've put my son through a lot, but he is doing great, fantastic, wonderful. You may get all the enzymes into his body quickly, but two weeks is only two weeks. Are you okay with him missing school the third week or fourth week? I'm not criticizing, I think you're great, you want to help your baby any way you can. But the No-Fenol was three weeks of hell for us. No sleep, aggressiveness, this e-mail is already too long. If you do this and need encouragement after you start, I'm usually typing away at midnight or so. Just e-mail for a pep talk. starting with enzymes Hi can I get some help please? What is the best way to give - powder or chewable? Finally, do I do the enzymes along with the diet or should I stop with the diet for now and just do the enzymes? I am so confused - any help will be greatly appreciated. Mom to beautiful Clare Marie

Some kids still need diet, others don't. You can keep diet for a few weeks and then challenge, or drop diet right now and see if you notice any changes. Was she eating gluten/casein with every meal? Some kids need more than just enzymes to tolerate gluten/casein. Or, she might not have tolerated the enzymes. Which one/s were you using?
