Guest guest
I suggest you go with your gut on this - take out those foods, my boys are the same - I have been testing my 10 year old on different foods - and he has had a couple of red jellies over that past several weeks - yesterday he had one was really great - 10 minutes later he completely fell apart - crying, screaming, honestly I did want to smack him too - but I know it would not help they need boundaries of course but this was so obviously the red jelly - so 2 hours later my swollen eyed little boy was back and the jellies are in the bin. Go with your gut - go back to what you were doing when he was good - but be very aware of bananas, and citrus and even the Nuthera some kids can't take it - maybe introduce it again in a week or so once he is back to normal. I know the hard thing with testing foods - is that they get a taste for it and can't understand why they can't have more or even on a rotational basis - it either on or off in this house because once they know they are in the cupboard !!!!! it can be such a problem. Take care Terri NZ Help. I really need help. Things have been going beautifully for such a long spell that I am really upset and need to know what I am doing wrong. Bananas and orange juice were really becoming issues back in November and December and I recognized this because I was putting the vit. C in his orange juice and he was craving bananas, and then we'd get tantrums, irrational crying, inability to focus (for therapy). And mostly his cheeks were red. I thought I'd gotten the whole yeast thing under control, thought perhaps it was just the phenols. He adjusted to No-Fenol and so we were allowing small infractions (tomatoes, lemonade, etc.) I just reintroduced orange juice on a regular basis and bananas last week. He is a monster and his grandpa felt the need to spank him and did so tonight due to his behavior. My in-laws feel with a lot more spanking that ph will eventually behave ( on command) and my husband is agreeing. I pointed out ph's cheeks and the whole irrationality aspect of his behavior and they are of the mind that because he has improved developmentally that he is ready to be disciplined like other children. Are they right? Am I being over protective? I feel that his body is signaling me that something isn't right. I'm going to remove the orange juice, bananas and for a few days regularly dose the GSE ( I only do it every four days or so now). I'll let you know how it goes. I should also mention that the new vitamins I ordered haven't arrived yet and so I reintroduced the Super Nu Thera at 1/8 tsp. daily. But that was only within the last week. I am also slightly a basket case, my brother is in Iraq. Perhaps ph is picking up on my stress? I really need to emphasize the red cheeks though. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. Guest guest
, They are so wrong for spanking your son.A child does not need to be spanked....ever!!!!!!!Do you think it is alright if someone hits you for doing something wrong? You're a person and your son is a little person. It is not alright,it is abuse.Plain and simple and tell your inlaws to mind their business ,he is your son .It is obvious they know nothing about autism. The red cheeks is due to a pst problem. This is a problem digesting phenols and transferring them. Your son needs love and lots of it. Keep your cool because you are caught in the middle but the adults will listen if you know what you are talking about. R
Guest guest
Thanks for the support. Actually they don't listen. My best times are when they have limited contact with ph. I was able to convince Mike that socially and verbally ph is about 2 1/2 (that's where the UCLA Autism Eval. clinic put him last December). Mike and I make a great team, but you know how the parent " pull " is. ph is just about back to normal. It was a hellacious 4 days, but no more oranges or bananas. Not even with No Fenol. We go see Dr. Goldberg, so perhaps there is a parasite or different type of yeast issue that we're missing. Thank you again for the support. Guest guest
it sure is-I have of course over s lifetime met other parents thru school and support groups but their children were never quite like him and I was the only one who tried all the " off the wall treatments " It is refreshing to know someone that has gone thru the same things. I am sure thru our postings we will find more and more in common with our kids and maybe we'll be able to find the right combinations to help them a great deal, although your daughter sounds like she is doing great. Guest guest
Taurine - a calming amino acid has been helpful for many, as has B6 and Magensium. I give all three to my son daily since he had one gramd mal seizure back in March last year - he has only had one very short absence seizure since then. My pediatrician was intrigued and took diligent notes LOL Mandi in UK I was wondering if anyone tired any alternative medicine to help control seizures? I have been reading thru all the links but there are so many. We are going to consider the Keto Diet for my son.

Guest guest
Sometimes I just don't have the words so I just say " I'm having a bad day, please can you carry it for me? " They're the days when something amazing in the recovery way happens, large or small, happens. Without prayer though I'd never have survived the past year. I agree with this wholeheartedly!! Today, not just coincidence, the man upstairs was stage managing it all as usual, somebody called me whose son did well with biomedical interventions - he said keep battling, its just ignorance, you know what you're doing is right. What's the worst that could happen? OK things don't go according to dream (and we've all got dreams for our kids and what's that to be ashamed of?) but at least we can say we did everything we could, we knew about, we made sacrifices, we tried. The idea of crushing disappointment is a bit scary but I've kind have been through that one... I told God I would take a baby anyway he saw fit to give it to me. I guess I should have been more careful with my words! He does have a plan and I do find comfort in that. I do push forward so I can say I did everything I could. That is the best we can do, to try. I live on endless bars of chocolate, cans of Coke, Marlboro Lights and studies about Autism! I am next! Switched to coffee, less chemicals(I think!) Did you hear about the new nicotine vaccine???!!! Just kidding! in Cocoa __________________________________________________
Guest guest
, my daughter's appetite is very low--which Houston enzyme improved your daughter's appetite? Thanks, Loss of Appetite-Long Hi All, I am new to this group. So first a big hello to all of you and thanks for the dedication and support from each parent. I hope at some point i would be able to help with answers but currently am overwhelmed with all the information that i have more questions than any answers !! To give a background, i have a 2yr 4mon old Autistic son . We are starting all the traditional therapies in combination with the bio- med route. To summarize we are seeing steady gains everyday and are very encouraged but the stumbling blocks are always there and the loss of appetite is the biggest one now. My son was never a big eater to start with and was picky about meals but always ate his meals even after the GFCF diet started Sequence of events : 1. GFCF diet -- no issues - Appetite was fine 2. Added Cod Liver oil from Nordic naturals - no issues - Appetite was fine 3. Added BrainChild Vitamins and Minerals - tried it for few days .. no reactions -- Appetite was okay but teething issues were preventing him from having regular meals 4. Add Zinc methionine --- no reactions. Appetite okay-decreasing 5. Lactobacillus sporenges -- no reactions. 6. Clay bath twice a week -- no reactions - Appetite poor Now though there was no big reactions to any of the stuff above i found his appetite decreasing. He had teething in between and loose stools so i kept watching out.. Now he is consistently skipping 2-3 meals a day (some days all he drinks is couple of glasses of rice/almond milk and some pear juice). Suprisingly, he is active and happy all the time (as long as he doesnt see food). Should i cut back things one by one and see which one is the culprit. The loss of appetite was gradual and he is already a skinny boy. I dont know how much i can let go off him like this. Any suggestions is appreciated. Btw, i found this product (also recommended by some parents). Any personal experience with this protein powder. Ultra Protein Plus Chocolate Almond - 948g provided by Laboratories® provides protein from yellow peas, a low allergenic source of protein that is GMO, pesticide, lactose, casein and gluten free. This formula provides a rich source of all essential amino acids as well as important vitamins and minerals. The reason am mailing this list is i am yet to introduce digestive enzymes and wanted to know if thats something i should do or backoff and find the culprit. Btw, the enzyme suggested by my DAN doctor is from Kirkman " EnZym-Complete/ DPP-IV Is this the one commonly used ? Has it helped the appetite issue in any of your cases ? Thanks for all your time. Guest guest
Did you start each supplement one at a time? If you start all those at the same time You can't tell which one is causing the problems. If they were all started last week at the same time...stop them all for a week. Then start by giving each one for one week before adding a new one. Keep a journal to record how he responds to each one. This way you will be able to know which one is causing these behaviors. Guest guest
Joe, Yes, it sure could be. My son went from weighing 42 pounds last May to over 60 by September. His current doctor at the time did not seem concerned. If a 200lb man gained 100 lbs in 6 months, without any changes in diet, people would sure be scrambling to find out. But anyway, I have a couple of hypotheses which I'm happy to share in case they may be of some help to you. One - we had started hbot that May - so one train of thought was that he was digesting his food better, therefore the weight gain. I bought into this for a while, but something seems missing with this scenario. We never saw undigested pieces of food in his stool before hbot and he wasn't on enzymes, no behavior changes when eating any particular foods, etc. and the quantity that he ate did not change at all. Two - perhaps using the hbot has allowed my son to digest gluten better than before. Gluten can cause problems for your thyroid (as can heavy metal poisoning). After doing a ton of research on what the real reference ranges on labs associated with hypothyroidism are (and not just what it says on the lab's results) - his symptoms and labs all fit for being hypothyroid. Luckily, we have a doctor who was willing to Rx armour thyroid for him. Before we started the armour, I had a hair test run which pointed to thyroid - but in the past, his hair test also pointed to adrenal fatigue. Since adding the armour and adrenal cortex, I have noticed positive things about my son's demeanor in general - - he was always happy, but now he seems HAPPY. So, I'm hoping it's because he feels better. He's been on the armour a few weeks - and I haven't seen any changes in weight as of yet, so nothing to report there. Hope this helps, http://www.recoveringnicholas.com http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1566597819 & ref=profile From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Joe O'Farrell Sent: Tuesday, April 28, 2009 9:17 AM Subject: Hi, Thanks to all for keeping this great information service going. I was an avid reader for a couple of years, scouring this logs for all the little pieces of information which help us keep a successful enzyme program in place for our son. Then he had a very successful recovery from some digestive health and speech delay issues as a result of following an enzymes and fish oil diet under a doctor's supervision. The doctor then suggested we wean him off the enzymes, which we did slowly and successfully (i.e. he did not regress on either the digestive or speech issues). However he gradually began to increase his weight, to the point that he is now -- almost 3 years later -- in the 98th percentile, and his pediatrician is suggesting a nutritionist. He eats a good diet and participates in many sports, and basically never sits down. I'm wondering if this weight increase could be related somehow to how he is digesting his foods? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Guest guest
It depends on your child, but you can go to www.txoptions.com adult dose is always 4 tablets under tongue, kids is 1/2 that.. if you get it in a 2 dram viile, it is about $7.00 yes, $7.00 for 250 tablets. Very inexpensive....Remember it is not immediate, but cumulative. Another good one is oxypowder, many of our member also use that here. As for understanding it more, there is an awesome book for families and like it because it has a remedy index. Find your illness or symptom and it helps you find your best remedy based on your feelings. I am not a doctor, but found wonderful help in this, over 2 years now, and our kids just are never sick anymore, no more colds and if they get a little stuffy or sore throat I give them tablets for a day, and it is gone. Here is a link to the book I love, it is awesome for beginners..and oldies alike...you can get it used on amazon real cheap....Has done wonders for our family... everything from shingles, aches and pains, fever reducers, flu, diahrrea, and we are talking massive 5 day flus that shut down my husbands work for 2 weeks, everyone was deathly ill, he got it at 3pm tues, and after one bout in the bathroom, I gave him belladonna and chamomilla, and he went to bed and the next day was as good as gold. Everyone else was sick the rest of the week. Boy did he get stuff done around the house that week, since the place was closed. It works fast and helps your body heal much faster.... http://www.amazon.com/Family-Guide-Homeopathy-Symptoms-Solutions/dp/06717677 12/ref=sr_1_6?s=books & ie=UTF8 & qid=1290212405 & sr=1-6 Nux Vomica I would like to try this for constipation (as nothing else has helped). Wondering what the strongest dose I can get (I don't understand homeopathy) and where do you buy it at?
