Guest guest
, I haven't read all of her book. I try to read a few pages every time I go to & Noble, I'm broke:) I'm attending a conference thing that she's doing and there's a q & a section at the end so I wanted to ask her out right about pushing the diet and why she doesn't think it's ok to just do enzymes but I'm not sure how to word my question without appearing rude. (wow, was that a long sentence or what?) Any advice? Also, what rebuttals should I anticipate, if any? We've just tonight, at dinner, started zp again and I'm ordering pep and nf on Monday. I'm hoping that by the time this thing's here in March, I'll be able to offer Olivia as proof that enzymes are just as good as or better, in some cases, than the diet. I'm scared but hopeful. Anyway, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rhonda
Guest guest
>>>> I haven't read all of her book. I try to read a few pages every time I go to & Noble, I'm broke:) That is really funny, and I will never admit I do the exact same thing. LOL. But my husband buys so many specialty books there I don't feel bad. >>>I'm attending a conference thing that she's doing I hope you enjoy it. Especially for the price. You will have to report back on how it goes. >>>and there's a q & a section at the end so I wanted to ask her out right about pushing the diet and why she doesn't think it's ok to just do enzymes but I'm not sure how to word my question without appearing rude. I am not sure if there is an 'appropriate' way to do this. She appears to be ultra defensive about things. Any time someone posts even a comment even sort of questioning something not absolutely straight down the Dan party line, she replies back really personally instead of addressing the question/comment (at least that is what I saw on the autism treatment board). It is just a different style that myself so perhaps someone else could offer an idea. >>>>Also, what rebuttals should I anticipate, if any? Let's see, the standard ones are: 1. Doctors don't advise it (actually lots of doctors DO agree with enzymes over food eliminations, it is only Dan doctors that are told not to - you will notice that most of the arguments specifiy " Most Dan doctors do not recommend it " - that is the key phrase to look for) 2. It is giving the poison (supposed gluten-casein food) with the antedote (the enzymes). The reply is that this may be someone's OPINION but it is not a fact, does not follow opiate receptor mechanics, and many people are just not of that opinion. But is it an emotionally charged statement, just not a fact based one. 3. The GFCFdiet people don't agree. Reply: So what?! Who cares?! It has been nearly TWO YEARS, people. It's working great. REALLY GReat! It's not our fault others are behind...or simply chose another way. The GFCF diet is a certain diet someone may chose to do. It may not even be the best choice if you have autism, and it is nice there are different choices for different people. Or you can chose one of the other diets to try: Feingold, keto, SCD, yeast, etc. Again, this is personal preference, and not a fact. Actually, enzymes are proving to be much safer than the diet because if you leave the diet without enzyme you might go through a dramatic regression, where that is not seen with enzymes. The exception is that anyone with celiac needs to be gluten-free. I guess the important thing to remember is that the Dan protocol is centered around the GFCF diet. The GFCF diet now markets their own videos, foods, books, etc. - merchanising. Like the Atkins diet, or the Celltech/blue-green algae program. And people do those programs with success too. You can use enzymes with any of these diets, or no diets, or just diets and not enzymes...it is simply one option of many. >>>>I'll be able to offer Olivia as proof that enzymes > are just as good as or better, in some cases, than the diet. I hope that it helps Olivia's health. There are lots of people already that have 'proven' enzymes are as good and at times better than the GFCF diet for some people. But whatever helps each person get better is great. If I think of anything else, I will let you know, but I think they already know the answer...it just doesn't fit with the business end of it. Different ways of dealing with a problem. Kaen. P.S. Here's an idea. Ask whomever if THEY are on the GFCF diet 100% all the time - no crumbs and no infractions...ever. Most everyone criticizing the enzyme option are not - including the ANDI people. So when they are, then they might be in a position to comment. Just another way of looking at it.
