Guest guest
Hi all, I have a 6 yr old daughter who has autism and has been on the gfcf diet for the past 2 years. She's been on the enzymes for the past 2 months and after seeing this group, i have ordered the AFP peptizyde for her last week. Question regarding cooking vessels. What is the best one recommended in your experiences? I use stainless steel metal pot for boiling and a tephlon-coated (non-stick) pan for frying. We are going to test her for heavy metals next week, but i want to change my cooking habits right now if they're harmful to her. Thanks in advance. regards, jaya
Guest guest
teflon coated alunimum is the best for both pots and pans provided you don't overheat it and replace the pot/pan when the teflon starts to flake. some kids with severe metals trasnport impairement seem to retain the nickel from stainless steel cooking.... the issue i have with stainless steel is it is an fact quite a good insulator as metals go and doesn't heat well. > Hi all, > > I have a 6 yr old daughter who has autism and has been on the gfcf > diet for the past 2 years. Guest guest
we use Amways Queeen Cookware, which is lowheat, small amount of water cooking - it is stainless steel with a carbon core so cooks on a low low heat and doesn't destroy the nutritional value of the food, I understood that stainless steel was the best or heavy glass type saucepans as there are no coatings and the materials are non porous - I always feel uncomfortable about coatings on saucepans as they don't seem to last which makes me suspicious that the material is being absorbed into the food - Cheers H Re: Cooking vessel - what's the best one? > teflon coated alunimum is the best for both pots and pans provided > you don't overheat it and replace the pot/pan when the teflon starts > to flake. > > some kids with severe metals trasnport impairement seem to retain the > nickel from stainless steel cooking.... > > the issue i have with stainless steel is it is an fact quite a good > insulator as metals go and doesn't heat well. > > > > > Hi all, > > > > I have a 6 yr old daughter who has autism and has been on the gfcf > > diet for the past 2 years. Guest guest
theres no best theres just tradeoffs. the same women who worry about a bit of ingested teflon use toxic amounts of solvents cleaning thier houses and nails..... breathe 100 times as many carcinogens just driving to school...... > > > Hi all, > > > > > > I have a 6 yr old daughter who has autism and has been on the gfcf > > > diet for the past 2 years. Guest guest
you are too funny, what is the downside with using stainless steel and what is the downside with using glass (you know what I mean the French cookware) - educate me, I am from the old school that you don't use aluminium or coated pots because it does come off into the food - and please do not make any comments about " the same women " we are all trying to do the right thing so that our families have less toxins etc to handle - you are the one who states that teflon is " the best " - oh gosh! Cheers H Re: Cooking vessel - what's the best one? > theres no best theres just tradeoffs. > > the same women who worry about a bit of ingested teflon use toxic > amounts of solvents cleaning thier houses and nails..... > > breathe 100 times as many carcinogens just driving to school...... > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > > > > > I have a 6 yr old daughter who has autism and has been on the > gfcf > > > > diet for the past 2 years. Guest guest
As long as the stainless steel doesn't have an aluminum core it should be okay. Cooking vessel - what's the best one? Guest guest
whats an aluminium core got to do with it. what matters is the inside surface of the pot. stainless teel is 10% nickel and its not a good idea to overclean them exposing fresh surface with scouring. i have seen at least one hair test result where hgh nickel was likely a result of using stainless steel cookware. long lists of successive posts are a spectrum trait. > As long as the stainless steel doesn't have an aluminum core it should be okay. > Cooking vessel - what's the best one? > > > Hi all, > > I have a 6 yr old daughter who has autism and has been on the gfcf > diet for the past 2 years. Guest guest
, best ones I know of are what I have used for 20 years is Amways Queen Cookware, it is stainless steel with a carbon core and is very hygienic, but reason I originally got it was it is low heat cooking so the veges retain their maximum nutrition and taste great (due to small amount of water etc) - and now since Autism I realise the value in cooking only in stainless steel - it is relatively expensive but my set still looks like new and its been well used etc. Cheers H Cooking vessel - what's the best one? > > > Hi all, > > I have a 6 yr old daughter who has autism and has been on the gfcf > diet for the past 2 years. Guest guest
I must look at my sons hairtest - from memory he didn't come up with high nickel but now you have me thinking Cheers H Is all stainless steel 10% nickel? Guest guest
I LOVE Calphalon non-stick commerical stuff. I have acquired several over the years and love it, love it, love it. It is really easy to clean, cooks evenly and you don't need to turn the heat up as high to get a good temperature. The surface is somehow 'bonded' on and doesn't flake off. Calphalon is always running a couple pieces on sale which is about 50% off or more at a time. I have a couple pieces of the 'stick' kind of calphalon too, but don't use it very much. .
