I believe it is called a Krytopyrrole test or KP Test for short. Not many

doctors are familiar with it. I did it at the Pfeiffer Treatement Center.

Pyroloria is a genetic chemical imbalance which involves an abnormality in

hemoglobin synthesis. Persons with the disorder overproduce a by product of

this chemical synthesis called " kryptopyrrole " (KP) or " hemepyrrole " which

appears in the bloodstream. This chemical has little or no function in the

body, and is efficiently excreted in urine. The problem is that this substance

has a chemical affinity for pyridoxine (vitamin B6) and zinc, and these

essential nutrients are stripped from the bloodstream along with the pyrroles.

Pyroloria is detected by chemical analysis of the abnormal pyrroles in urine.

Hi I am in Germany.

There is a special test you can buy in the pharmacy here. It's a little like

a pregnancy test but instead of using urine you use blood from a finger

prick.

My daughter is always picking herself so I will get one today and use it

next time she draws blood during one of these episodes.

Maybe they these are in your pharmacy in the States.

WHOOPSEES.

I thought I read " pylori " as in Helicoptr pylori.

But that's worth checking also as it is an indication of a bacteria which

produces ulcers and therefore pain.

My insurance covered the test and all other tests done at Pfeiffer less my

deductible. I have Aetna PPO. Just don't have him put down autism for some

insurances. Mine was listed as constipation. Leave the autism out - you run

into insurance troubles with it in there. Find another health reason to run it.

With our kids there are many. I will guarantee that your pediatrician has never

heard of the test. OR call a lab like Great Smokies and order the test - it's

free to get it and you pay when you send it in. Have the doctor sign for it -

if you have the type of doctor that will be open to discussion of things like

that. Definintely worth running the test.
