Guest guest
Hi Donna, You're welcome! I wasted 23 years before I knew anything, and really only got dialed in about 2-3 years ago. It would be a crime to not share what I spent 6 or 7 years learning... If GSE helped, you would do well to get some Lugol's Iodine and do 1-3 drops in a glass of water (not juice) 1-3x/day for a week or so, followed by probiotics. It will kill almost everything nasty in the digestive tract, including stubborn strep and fungal things that don't die easily. If he gets too much, the symptom will be a runny, watery nose. Do some research, you can test whether he is iodine deficient by painting it on his skin and seeing how quickly it disappears. But aside from dealing with deficiency, it is a great contact disinfectant for the GI tract. I would say it is 5x as effective as GSE, but not good for long term use like GSE is. I am so happy I can now eat fruit every day without having room-clearing digestive problems...I can even have sucrose, but I don't often since it helps bacteria grow. Xylitol is just as good. As far as GFCF, I may have wheat once per month, if that. I take 3-4 peptizymes with it which definitely helps, but does not stop the symptoms. It just lessens them. If I also do GSE, then wait a while, and do Lugols, my digestion usually survives intact. Before that combo, a bite of wheat meant 3 days of very foul gas and brain fog/low energy. Basically, when I eat wheat, within 5 minutes, I feel a " shift " in my brain, kind of like the room got bigger and then returned to normal size. The closest I can describe is the very first thing you feel when you eat psychedelic mushrooms (which I had once in Amsterdam - I have used shrooms and pot in Amsterdam only, no other illegal drugs ever). After about 10 minutes, my heart rate increases dramatically and I feel a bit of a rush, probably blood pressure. Then, about 10 mintues later, I start to feel tired and want coffee really bad. And then I feel compelled to eat more wheat, I could eat a whole loaf of bread at once in a restaurant... I can tell you that if you're going to cheat, do it all at once and get it out of the way, it's much better that way than doing one piece of bread per day for 2 days. That will get you hooked again and day 3 will be a day of cravings. Gluten is a drug. I do cheat more often on casein, I can tolerate small amounts, like some cheese. It's only when I eat something with concetrated casein (like a shake) or even a glass of milk or cottage cheese that I have mental problems. I can also tolerate heavy whipping cream (no canned crap!). I whip it with xylitol and vanilla for desert, or pour it in coffee, or mix it with water to make " very low casein milk. " A caveat - pasteurization does not kill the stuff that grows in milk, so I get far fewer GI effects if I briefly boil the cream before I eat it, it is a 90% reduction. Fresh cream still causes a little bit of mucus/post nasal, but not too bad, especially with enzymes. Boiled is pretty much fine, but doesn't taste as good. If eggs are ok, you can make great home made ice cream with heavy cream, egg yolks, xylitol, and flavoring. On par with Ben & Jerry's of HageenDaaz. I am fortunate to not have a phenol problem that I can identify, although I have tried no phenol enzymes. I love berries and often choose them if I'm going to have fruit (which is basically natural candy.) Best of luck - cc: me when you post so I know to answer; I don't always read all postings. Hi Dave- I just wanted to thank you for your input...I find it so helpful to " hear " what you have to say about the things you have found that help you feel better. My son's expressive language is not very good (although improving everyday) and I'm always worrying about how certain things make him feel...we started him on GSE a couple of weeks ago, just a drop a day...wanted to go slow and easy, I can see the difference just that small amount is doing!!! (hopefully, it will also be a remedy for the chronic strep) Also, a while back you had mentioned in one of your responses, the relief you have not being " high on gluten " Are you totally GFCG, or do you " cheat " every once in a while, knowing you have the enzymes to support your infractions??? Would you indulge me while I ask if you could explain to me the feeling you would have when you did eat wheat? Thank you so much. Look forward to your response! Regards- Donna
