Guest guest
, I'm only brand new to enzymes but I thought that I'd throw in my opinion anyway. Would it be possible to give him 1/4 capsule and if he eats a large amount give him a further 1/4 capsule? Debbie Day 17 update -- sorry, kinda long Just thought I'd drop a quick line and let you know our progress and challenges since we started AFP Pep 17 days ago. Progress: DS SPOKE HIS FIRST NEW WORD IN 16 MONTHS -- " down. " He learned two new body parts, mouth and ears. He learned to sign " more " during ABA on Thursday. He sits and colors and reads, quietly, contentedly. He holds my hand while we walk across parking lots to ice-cream parlors, parks, grocery stores. He rode for the first time in one of those little car-carts at the grocery store (he has NEVER entered an enclosed space). Two days ago his ABA programmer asked if we had started him " on that dairy- and wheat-free diet, " she thought he was doing so well during his sessions. When we visited our new ped. shortly after beginning AFP, the nurse commented on how much more calm and happy he seemed since his first visit. Often poos are more formed and more brown that bright orange or yellow. DH remains amazed. Challenges: Has anyone had this happen??? He is rejecting almost all food! DS is a big 28-month-old -- off the charts in height and almost 34 lbs. Eating has NEVER been a problem, though his diet has consisted of 12 foods for the past 14 months. I've never really worried cuz they range from banana and yogurt to oatmeal and chicken and pizza... Now all he wants is toast, pretzels, cheese crackers. Tonight he even rejected french fries! I wrote about this before, but he almost seems mad at his food. He'll squeeze it angrily before throwing it across the room. (Oh yeah -- he's also learned to throw!) I've noticed that if I give him his 1/2 cap but then he doesn't really eat, it's bad news. He's moody and only wants to watch TV. If he eats a lot after the AFP, he's fine. The second problem is HEAD-BANGING. It's really increased, despite the progress. It almost seems opposite of what should be happening. It happens the most during those times that he gets the AFP but doesn't eat much. Really not sure how to handle this -- and it happens to be happening right this instant. Thanks everyone for your continued guidance and support.

You'd think I'd have tried that by now, wouldn't you!? I'll start at breakfast tomorrow. Thanks for that idea.

Guest guest
The good news is great! About the headbanging, it could be withdrawal, but I am also wondering if he is on anything with B6 vitamins? If so, consider reducing or dropping the B vitamins because now that he is getting B vitamins from increased absorption of food, adding more on top of that can be too much. If the headbanging continues, I would call Devin. I'm wondering if there is an intolerance to something in the enzymes. Even if it is withdrawal, I would NOT want to wait that out and would consider reducing the enzyme dose for awhile before building back up slowly. > Just thought I'd drop a quick line and let you know our progress and > challenges since we started AFP Pep 17 days ago. > > Progress: DS SPOKE HIS FIRST NEW WORD IN 16 MONTHS -- " down. He is rejecting almost all food! DS is a big 28-month-old -- off the charts in height and almost 34 lbs. Eating has NEVER been a problem, Did you read happen to read 's book? If you are underweight you seem to gain weight on the enzymes, if you are over you lose weight and if you are right on you stay. Now all he wants is toast, pretzels, cheese crackers. Tonight he even rejected french fries! Did you happen to notice these are all the same types of foods, starches/flours/casein? I wrote about this before, but he almost seems mad at his food. He'll squeeze it angrily before throwing it across the room. (Oh yeah -- he's also learned to throw!) I've noticed that if I give him his 1/2 cap but then he doesn't really eat, it's bad news. The second problem is HEAD-BANGING. This is kind of scary for us. I don't ever want to see the head banging return. Dr. Goldberg said it means it is a viral problem. The Ojibwa Tea seemed to benefit my son with the die-off. No more head banging. Even if Dr. Goldberg is correct with the " viral " theory the Ojibwa Tea still makes sense because it is a gentle slow killer of viral and bacterial bugs. If you are underweight you seem to gain weight on the enzymes, if you are over you lose weight and if you are right on you stay. Yeah, I understand that, but geez, can he really be eating so little? I know my friends' kids sometimes exist on air it seems, I'm just not used to dealing with it... > Now all he wants is toast, pretzels, cheese crackers. > Tonight he even rejected french fries! > > Did you happen to notice these are all the same types of foods, starches/flours/casein? Yes, I have. What does that mean? Is he trying to feed the yeast, maybe? Increase his chances of of having the opoid reaction? (I realize you may not be able to answer that...) > The second problem is HEAD-BANGING. > > This is kind of scary for us. I don't ever want to see the head banging return. I still have the phone number you provided for Ojibwa Tea. Will call on Tuesday. Sorry I can't remember -- did you see any side effects from the tea? My son never rejected ANY food item until he started tolerating foods. Now he is a typical picky kids, won't eat his vegetables LOL. He was also a very large toddler. Now he is very slender but VERY STRONG! I've noticed that if I give him his 1/2 cap but then he > doesn't really eat, it's bad news. He's moody and only wants to > watch TV. A few people have reported that Peptizyde helps with yeast control. Could he have a yeast issue? I would recommend you reduce the dose to 1/4 capsule. Do you give it with all meals and snacks? Guest guest
I really can't speak to the bread issue, an old part of me believes the opiod effect theory of food, especially because my son did act like he was on drugs when he ate regular gluten foods, however another part of me thinks that the bacterial/viral/yeast possibilities are too large to ignore. With the tea, all I can remember are acne, for myself, chicken skin for my son and lots of peeing. Body is processing a lot of toxins out. The acne and chicken skin went away completely, but I had to read up on it and realize that the skin is the body's first way of purging toxins. Dosing is really important on the tea, I started with one tablespoon tea to 2 tablespoons water at first. Now he gets 2 tablespoons tea to 4 tablespoons water. I've heard some unhappy stories of giving kids straight tea ( these kids are so tired of taking stuff that sometimes they refuse anything they think is medicine). So be sure to mix with water or even pear juice if you have to. Good luck. Re: Day 17 update -- sorry, kinda long > Did you read happen to read 's book?
