Guest guest
Hi , >>> When on a GFCF diet - and your child slips - can you give them Pepcid AC chewable to decrease the negative effects? This does work for some people. The Pepcid has an antacid in it which help slow digestion and thus further breakdown, but also it acts as a histamine blocker. So even though the problematic things may be in the system, certain types of receptors are 'blocked' and the adverse reaction does not take place. I had some links before and one with a picture of what this sort of looks like that I posted to the gfcfkids board long time ago. I will add that I tried this myself and the Pepcid did not work, so maybe my reaction was not related to that type of receptor, but a few other moms have reported great success. It seems to work for some and not others. .

Guest guest
Pepcid has been a godsend for us. We don't like to use it regularly, but carry it around with us in case of emergencies (like birthday cake). It works well in terms of not seeing a reaction, but whether the " accident " is causing any longer term issues - I don't know. > I am a lurker here - and heard something from a mother I wanted to check out > for myself to see if it is true....... > > When on a GFCF diet - and your child slips - can you give them Pepcid AC > chewable to decrease the negative effects? > > Anyone have information on the accuracy of this? > > Thank you, > - MGuppy@y...
