Phosphate mining results in major pollution of air and ground water with

widespread adverse health effects. Some of the pollutants resulting from

phosphate mining include fluoride, aluminum, lead, arsenic, radon, etc. Some

of these pollutants also result from fluoridation of water.

Fluoride, a major pollutant in phosphate mining and also used in water

fluoridation, is documented to be an extremely problematic pollutant: known

to be carcinogenic and highly toxic and to have caused large numbers of adverse

health effects http://www.flcv.com/fluoride.html

Arsenic, lead, and mercury are the 3 toxics that cause by far the most adverse

health effects of any toxic substances in the U.S.

Radon health effects: radon is documented to cause lung cancer, other lung

conditions.

The health effect statements in the current draft of the letter are mild and

well supported compared to the

documentation from the medical literature as referenced in this email.

an additional item to be considered is sufficient bond requirement for operators

to meet possible obligations of cleanup, reclaimation, and

adverse health effects on surrounding populations.

. water is one bigger source..see post below - I did a very

quick search in archives here using " windham fluoride. " Worthwhile

to check what Binstock might have too...just quick ideas ;)

There are some links in post below that should help, if you are

(relatively) unfamiliar with fluoride information.

wishing you the best answers, elizabeth
