Guest guest
Hi, My son (turned 6 last week, 48 lbs) has been on oral DMSA 25 mg (every 4 hr, 3 days on, 4 days off) for 10 rounds. He has made a lot of progress since we started chelation and methyl B12 shots: more attentive during speech session and in class; better eye contact; very positive feedback from his teachers for being more compliant, better problem solving; I was able to teach him addition/subtraction finally;making comments on things (rather than just tell me " juice " , " computer " ...), started pretend play with my NT two year old daughter, showing more emotion toward family members... But last weekend during our 10th round, he started to make noise in his throat (like a little pig grunting) once in a while and it was very distracting when he was in a reading class. Other symptoms include weird facial expression and blinking eyes - more autistic looking. And he is showing difficulty with transition again. We have not had any major transition issues for two years so this is a huge step back. He has been on Nystatin and GSE/probiotics for yeast protocol and our DAN doctor gave him Diflucan last week. I stopped chelating Sunday night due to the deteriorating condition (we did not finish the 10th round) and put him on Diflucan Monday afternoon and the noise/grunting continues. His school report today showing that he got 6 tokens (not following directions, refusing to work, not remain in his seat). This has never happened before. He is a good student in his AU1 classroom and he once in a while gets one token. I am very disappointed and concerned. I know many of you have been through this. Is this a yeast issue? What are yeast die-off behaviors? He DID have a cold a week ago and was not doing well. But nothing compares to this. Our DAN! doctor give us one month prescription for Diflucan. Is this enough or do we need 2-3 months to maintain it? Should I consider switch to TD-DMSA or TD-DMPS since yeast is such a big factor for my son? I will appreciate any advice from this group. Regards, Zhaoping from North Carolina
