I think this happens all the time. The military did the same thing to my

husband. Man has never had a cavity and at one visit they made him get a

mercury filling because they said he had one. Terrible job they did, it spills

over onto another tooth. I found a dentist who can remove it safely without

leaving a paper trail. We are going to have to pay for all of it cash but they

will do it without the military knowing. With his job he isn't allowed to go to

whomever he choses.

I think a second opinion could be good or at least let the doc know (before they

do the exam) you are going to get one so he might think twice about telling a

lie. You could also get them to show you the x-ray and explain how they decide

what a cavity looks like. If they think you know what you are doing they might

be less likely to lie as well. Who knows?! Just another case of people

thinking we aren't smart enough to figure out their crap!

Good luck getting the fillings out. I am so wanting to help my mother get hers

out. I think her lupus is mercury induced. Can't help her unless she gets

those things out.

wonder how many times this has happened to others?! Makes me wonder

if we should always get 2nd opinions, but what a costly thing to have

to do just because of the few who are unscrupulous...

Most dentists drill the teeth before putting in the fillings and would thus have

destroyed the " evidence " .

I'm interested in hearing about this too as I'm thinking about doing
the same thing. I have about 10 fillings to be removed and 1 or 2 of
them were apparently cracked several years ago (probably more Mercury
be released:o....They were ALL put in when I was about 12. Now I'm 40
something...My brother and sister had fillings put in at the same time
and I sometimes wonder if they were EVER truly ANY cavities as we were
all pretty good about brushing and I don't think we've ever had
another cavitiy since...Hmmmmm...makes me wonder.

Does anybody know the answer to this? If there were NO actual
cavities and fillings were put on top of a tooth that did not actualy
have a cavitiy, when the fillings are removed, could a cavity have
been created under a filling (especially a cracked one) OR would
nothing be found under the filling? Would x-rays from the past show
cavities under the fillings or would they just show that there's a
filling there? (unless a cavity is drilled out...then the " evidence "
would be gone and we'll never know for sure...) Oh well, just
curious... My husband had an incident where one dentist told him he
had 4 cavities and said he should get them filled...6 months later, he
went to another dentist thinking he would need to get his cavities
filled and the dentist told him that he didn't have any cavities! I
wonder how many times this has happened to others?! Makes me wonder
if we should always get 2nd opinions, but what a costly thing to have
to do just because of the few who are unscrupulous...
