Supposed to according to whom?

You will get very different dosing recommendations from different

people/sources.

Andy's suggested dose is 1/8 to 1/2 mg per pound of body weight,

per dose.

1 mg per pound is OVER this recommendation.

I would not recommend it. The circumstances where I would say

someone might CONSIDER more than 1/2 mg per pound are:

1. have used 1/2 mg per pound WITHOUT SIGNIFICANT SIDE EFFECTS

for an extended period of time

AND

2. chelation is with a person who is VERBAL and ARTICULATE and

SELF-AWARE.

In other words, I would not suggest this is reasonable to try

with a child in most cases. Also, DMSA has some icky side

effects, so I'm not sure I'd go very high with it in any case.

I personally took over 1 mg per pound of ALA, more like 1.5

mg per pound. But I think ALA has less side effects anyway --

and it is not stressful to the liver.

Always depends who you ask.

I would suggest 35 mg as the top dose of ALA and

35 mg as the top dose of DMSA. That is 1/2 mg per pound.

My son is 6-1/2 and weighs 95lbs, am I supposed to give him 50mgs of dmsa and

50mgs of ala every 3-4hrs, total 24hrs = 400mgs dmsa and 400mgs ala for 3days on

and 11off?

Total roughly 1200mgs dmsa and ala.

If you are just starting chelation, I personally would recommend that you

start low..... I upped my 6 1/2, 56 lbs son's dose today from 8 mg to 12 mg

per dose of DMSA and he threw up after 3 hours after the first dose. So I

am stopping today, waiting 24 hours and going back to the 8 mg per dose.

For your son: 1/8= 0.125 x 95lbs = 11.87 mg per dose. If you have 25 mg

capsules, you could try a third of a cap and make notes of any side effects

and then work your way up after a few additional rounds.

Again, I believe that low and slow is the best way to start and hopefully

your child can tell you how he is feeling along the way. My son told me

today that his belly didn't feel so good and I could read his body language

and knew he was going to chuck! Lo and behold he did!

You have to call them directly. They sell DMSA in 25 mg and 50 mg and they

also sell it in combination of DMSA/ALA in 25 mg and 50 mg.

Yup, just call them and ask for it. Good idea to get the details on

the dosage sizes they sell--try to work out what size would be most

convenient for you before you order.
