If you have amalgam tattoos, they should be removed prior to chelating, as they contain mercury. This _could_ explain the metallic taste. Guest guest
An acid stomach can cause metallic taste in your mouth too. Add that to your list. Do you think your chelation upset your digestive system? Guest guest
This could be a long shot, but I get a horrendous metallic taste in my mouth when I eat foods prepared in aluminum (disposable) pans... a lot of delis and even the Natural Food stores will package their single portion foods that way. Same with frozen items like lasagna. Any chance you are eating those things? In addition to the metallic taste I salivate more. Also, I've found some GFCF mixes give me that same problem. I made a chocolate GFCF cake mix (Really Great Food Company is the brand) last week and tasted the same metals after eating it (twice). I've experienced that a few times and have tried to figure out what is the culprit (aluminum-free baking soda in the mix). Guest guest
Wow, I think it could be either the amalgam tattoos or the releasing stuff. Guest guest
Pam, My dentist told me that I produced allot of saliva when he worked on my teeth. He says it is connected with mercury exposure. I wonder if increased salivation shows up in other metal exposures too after reading your post. ??? I recall always slobbering on my pillow at night. Find this out when I wake up in the morning. Yuck! However since I have been chelating with ALA I can't recall slobbering on my pillow at all. Interesting is that at night our body is trying to detox and repair itself at night too. It is these little things that change that we don't notice when we chelate. Always looking for those big irritating symptoms to clear up and I take little notice to some of the small changes. Just comparing notes. Guest guest
Now that you mention it, I used to be a slobberer at night, too. I don't do that anymore. (Gee guys, you must be kicking yourselves for passing ME up in college!) Pam > Pam, My dentist told me that I produced allot of saliva when he > worked on my teeth. Guest guest
I hope someone can answer what causes that symptom. I don't have it though. But when I first joined a message board there was talk about this and I don't recall what all the issues were. I bet you will get some answers here. Only one case I taste the taste of metal with my eggs and that is if I hard boil them in an aluminum pan. You have to use stainless steel. Sorry I don't know why. I know eggs are high in sulfur. Maybe it leaches aluminum? Don't own an aluminum fry pan, so I can't compare.
