Guest guest
By glyconutrients, do you mean Ambrotose by Mannatech? I had searched on line for information re: glyconutrients recently and found info on what it is supposed to do, but could not find any information on What it is or any specific brands or places to order except this one. I'd be curious to find out what is the active ingredient(s). The product label stated " Advanced Ambrotose complex " . The ingredients listed were gum acacia, aloe vera gel extract, Manapol powder, oat fiber, brown glucosamine-HCL, ghatti gum, gum tragacanth, xylitol. What exactly the " glyconutrient(s) " are is beyond me. I thought beta glucan was actually a glyconutrient too. Very confused. C. [ ] Re: Transfer factor & Glyconutrients Been there, done that. We've tried transfer factor for 6 months, glyconutrients for 8 months. We've seen no benefits. Beti > Has anyone looked into & /or tried transfer factor & glyconutrient supplements? I was asked about them by parents who are concerned about their children's weak immune systems and poor digestion (no neurological problems). In looking into them on the internet, I see these things also being recommended for children with autism. One page I found on glyconutrients claims that they enable the body to chelate naturally. > I confess that I am skeptical as it all sounds too good to be true. The theory is that humans evolved on a diet containing 8 chemically distinct types of sugar and modern humans only consume 1 or 2 of those on a regular basis. Some folks have had remarkably good results with them, for a lot of different issues. It is marketed as a " nutrtional supplement " . Michele in California calif.michele@... webmaster@... Guest guest
Thanks Michele. Is there a substance that contains all 8 of these sugars or do different products need to be combined to form the 8 sugars (like amino acids)? I'm wondering how you know if you are using a good product- what the standard would be to look for in a product or if Ambrotose is the only one available. Thanks. C. C. ---- , I have never looked at other products. A friend of mine who has been extremely supportive of my efforts to heal and get well did the research and tried the product for herself and her family first, then asked me if I would try it if she sent me some. I said " sure " . That was May of last year and I still take it. For me, it has been a good thing. You have to get the different sugars from different things. I have seen a website that described how to do that (for example, I think blueberries contains one of them). However, my understanding is it would be cheaper and easier and better in other ways to simply buy ambrotose. There may be other companies -- I am not sure -- but I have no reason to look eslewhere. Of course, ambrotose is now patented so I am not sure that glyconutrients from a different company could be exactly the same thing as ambrotose. My understanding is that mannatech has stringent standards for its production. If you are concerned about cost, I sometimes take as little as 1/4 teaspoon a day. At that rate, the 50 gram jar of powder lasts close to 4 months. I have also taken more than that for a time. For a few months, I had a standing order to get a new jar every month but I cancelled that this past summer and I plan to buy only a few jars a year. I sort of treat it like a vitamin supplement these days (1/4 teaspoon is about 600mg -- the equivalent of one large pill). I would not personally recommend that you start with more than that. It does cause one to purge toxins, so taking a lot of it can cause side effects, like diarhea. Because I had been so deathly ill for so long, my friend cautioned me to not start with more than 1/4 teaspoon and then later increase it when my body was stronger. That was what I did and that is what I suggest others do. I was extremely tired, slept a lot, and had diarhea for 2 or 3 weeks -- slept like someone healing, so I knew it was not a bad thing. But I think I did the right thing in starting slow. Michele in California calif.michele@... webmaster@... Guest guest
Michele, Thanks for all the information. I'm glad it is working for you. This is actually for my 10 yo daughter, so we would probably use even less. Compared to alot of other things out there to try, the price isn't too bad and very low risk- so why not? My only hesitation was that I hadn't had my other questions answered- thank you. C. Consaul Re: [ ] Re: Transfer factor & Glyconutrients >>>>Thanks Michele.
