We are not chelating yet - we have an appointment in a few weeks! On another

list, a parent posted a question about her child having high levels of Alkaline

Phosphate. I flashed back to test result I had for my son from a few years ago.

He also had high Alkaline Phosphate levels. I questioned the pediatrician who

sent him to a gastroenterologist. They ordered a test to examine more closely

where the levels were coming from, they looked at bone, not liver. The gastro

told me his liver is fine and it was just because my son is growing. I don't

know if I accept this now because of so many other parents talking about their

child's high levels. Has there been any studies done on this and if a possible

connection to autism. The definition of Alkaline Phosphate is an enzyme made by

the liver or bone indicating liver problem. Could this be because of toxins?

Often times the lab mistakenly uses an adult reference range for Alkaline

Phosphatase and not a child range. The general range for a child is

117-420. Anything in that range is acceptable.

Alk phos levels in children are several times higher than in adults.

If it is under 500 it is reasonable.

It will go higher if there has been a broken bone recently, or

possibly in a growth spurt.

Labs often put an adult reference range down on the test report.
