Guest guest
Like many of you, I noticed an almost immediate improvement in some areas after starting the diet after my diagnosis three months ago. However, it has taken months for other symptoms to finally dissipate. So here's the question: Does it take that long for a leaky gut to heal? For a while I thought I was misdiagnosed. Also, I've been a lurker for a while and I appreciate all of the restaurant and grocery suggestions here. Someday soon I will be able to take advantage. My diet is extremely limited right now with 99 percent of what I ingest being cooked by yours truly. Not that anyone would be this stupid but here's a cautionary tale; Turns out that Lays Stacks (which are not potato chips as advertised but are a reconstituted non-food) have wheat in them. I almost ate a few when they were offered to me! I have a lot to learn.
Guest guest
I too have been waiting for symptoms to disappear. I started gluten free in January and I know leaky gut is causing me to react to lots of other things. Even when the other things are identified and eliminated, it seems that I soon react to something new. It's very challenging. I'm trying hard to really " strengthen " my digestive system right now with prebiotics, probiotics, glutamine, omega-3, etc. It seems disappointing to work so hard on eliminating gluten (and dairy) and not get the positive reinforcement of feeling better. Anyone else had any luck in improving leaky gut? Ruth
