I am writing an article on the emotional impact of CD. Are there any

members who would like to tell me their story?

I'm writing this because it is hardly ever mentioned, and I have found

it sometimes difficult emotionally myself. I'm looking for stories

(the positive and negative) on how you and others around you have

dealt with celiac disease, like dealing with people who don't

understand the disease, or dealing with eating out issues.

Please email me privately. Thank you.

Hello, my name is Jammie and I have plenty of emotional problems with celiac. First off my daughter-3 1/2 was diagnosed a year ago so we all got tested and I have it too. Her problems were mostly physical while my were mostly emotional. I had been on Zoloft and then Welbuteran-however you spell it! I had anger and depression issuses. Since being on the diet I pretty much have it all sorted out. When we were first rx the diet I went into shock, not ever denial, but depression because I gave my little girl this problem that I can not cure without depriving her of the "fun" foods other kids were used to. Then I got use to the fact we needed to be on the diet and there really were great foods to

eat and she would know no difference because she was so young. I on the other hand am still struggling! I want Subway! I want Pizza Hut! I want Olive Garden! I am gaining weight-bad thing in my case-because I can have all the ice cream and chocolate I want. When we first started gf I lost about 30 lbs! I think that is because I had extemely high cholesteral. I know-duh-with all the ice cream and chocolate it is probably right back up there again. It makes me feel good though. Now my little girl is in preschool and I am getting the opportunity to help out another mother because her little girl was just diagnosed. I am happy to get to spread the word to someone who actually cares! The general public knows so little, if any, about it. And until they are personally effected or a celebrity is diagnosed they will not truely care. I just helped 2 girls with their school report on bone diseases. I

explained how Celiac can cause osteoperosis. They were shocked and wanted to know more! Now that felt great! I could go on and on. If you want talk more let me know. Jammie
