Guest guest
Wow! This is interesting news. I usually try to avoid soy since I don't digest it well but I might have to check this out just once to write it up on my blog! Thanks for letting us know.-- Come visit my food blog... Guest guest
What is the name of the place? (Fish & chips, YUMM!!!) From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Elonwy Sent: Thursday, December 07, 2006 12:35 PM Subject: [ ] Weird Fish -GF fish and chips On 18th and Mission. Gluten Free fish and chips, with a soy based batter, fried in their own dedicated fryer. I haven't been yet, but a co-worker went last night with a buddy of his who is gluten intolerant and told me about it. I called them and they verified the dedicated fryer. Pardon me if this has been posted before, but I found no reference to it, and I am so excited, since I have sorely missed fish and chips. Squueeeeee! Guest guest
Weird Fish got some rave reviews at Yelp:http://www.yelp.com/biz/2zqqYMV4Y8-M5dpYKr2NYAA Nov. 29 posting at Chowhound hints that they might have more than just GF fish & chips, stating that: " Even my friend Elise, who is allergic to Gluten, found a a full meal without trouble (rice flower used). " http://www.chowhound.com/topics/329043 It sounds delicious. I can't wait to try this one out.-JoeOn 12/8/06, Elonwy <elle871@...> wrote:> Their name is Weird Fish.> > > > >> > What is the name of the place? Guest guest
Be cautious -- a review last week in the Chronicle speaks of the beer batter tempura at Weird Fish. Let's hope their dedicated fryer (see below) truly is so, and that oil is never shared between fryers by mistake. H. In a message dated 12/7/06 2:51:32 PM, elle871@... writes: On 18th and Mission. Guest guest
I'm going tomorrow night, and am going to ask them all the same questions again, dedicated fryer, etc, etc. I do know a couple GF people that have eaten there with no problems. They seem to be very aware of the issues, at least in the kitchen, not all the servers seems too clear on it.
