my son is on cocktail to support the mitochondria for a presumed

mitochondrial disorder. The antioxidant ALA is included. Is there

any risk to using this without other chelating agents? What clinical

signs/symptoms should I look for?

How much ALA, and how often are you giving it?

The dose is 100mg/kg/day in divided doses (three times with meals).

In my child, that would be 100 mg three times a day but he is

getting a 60 mg dose instead.

He has not been high, but has had an altered zinc/copper ratio. I

have removed a lot of the high-copper foods from his diet (soy,

mainly) and have added zinc.

,

No, 100mg/kg/day is the dose prescribed by the metabolic geneticist

for augmentation of mitochondrial complex 1. That comes to 80mg

three times a day for my son. It is not meant to be a chelation

dose.

My son weighs 54#, so I suppose by Andy's recommendation he should

be receiving at most 26 mg every 3 hours (total of 208 mg/day). My

son has been receiving 60mg with meals.

If you start early morning on day one, you can stop late evening on day 3 so

you only get to wake up 2 nights :) The Aim is 72 hours, not less than 64

hours

MAndi in UK

Also, in the andy protocol, when we say 3 days, does it also include 3

nights or two nights?

Afetr how long did you start seeing progress? Should I expect any after the

1st round?

nights or two nights?

Am just about to finish round one where I am giving 5mg per dose. He is 40

pounds

It is supposed to be 3 days and 3 nights. Be as close as 72 hrs as

you can be. On the long run, it is hard to do 3 nights out of 7,

every week.

Keep us posted. I hope you'll start seeing improvements in a few

rounds.
