I'm never saw this posting of mine come through on the list, so I'm

reposting it. My apologies if everyone is seeing this for the second

time. I figured the info might be useful to someone:

Subject: dining out - sf

Hi all,

I just thought I'd let you know that I've found a couple restaurants

here in San Francisco that have been able to accomodate GF needs. I'm

highly sensitive and get extremely ill after eating trace amounts of

gluten so I don't eat out very often (and just started trying to eat

in restaurants about 8 months ago.) So having places I can trust means

a lot to me.

I eat dinner once or twice a week at Bistro Aix in the Marina, and I

highly recommend them. The food is fantastic -- I typically order

either the fish of the day or the chicken (though I'm sure they'll do

other entrees GF if you like.) I always order the mashed potatoes --

they're to die for! The chef/owner, , (who's there M,W,F), and

his staff are all familiar with GF needs. If there are just one or two

of you, I recommend sitting at the bar where will likely be

working -- he'll take great care of you. One caveat: they do have

flourless chocolate cake on the menu, but I was told the pan is dusted

in flour so we're not able to enjoy it.

Two other restaurants that have been able to accomodate me are Delfina

and Luna Park, both in the Mission and both I've only eaten at once.

They were both very knowledgeable when I called them ahead, and bent

over backwards to cater to me the night I ate there. I didn't like the

atmosphere at Luna Park as the music was so loud my boyfriend and I

couldn't talk to one another. Delfina was very good (though the mashed

potatoes couldn't at all compare to the ones at Bistro Aix!)

I've been told that another restaurant in the Mission, Range, will

also accomodate GF diets. I'm planning on trying them soon -- everyone

I know who has eaten there has had good things to say about the food.

Best,

Suki
