Guest guest
Went to the DAN dr. last week. He wants to run the following tests: OAT, comprehensive stool, Urine toxic metal pre- and urine toxic metal post (after dmps pill) and peptide for gluten and casein. They gave us the test kits and forms and said to call fed-ex when we were done and not to pay fed-ex because the test would be paid for. However, they marked enclose payment on all the forms and the tests total $779.00! Does anyone know if they are reimbursable by insurance (we have aetna)? How necessary is it to do all these tests? JMO but not so much. I did the OAT and comp stool and found out my son had some yeast and bad bacteria, which I already knew. If you have a strong suspicion of Hg toxicity, then the pre- and post challenge urine tests aren't necessary either, although they might be interesting. Single doses of chelator can cause bad redistribution, so you could spread it out instead. Nell
Guest guest
I'd say dump the urine peptide for gluten/casein unless you are resistant to starting the GFCF diet and you need more convincing. I've heard these tests are highly unreliable... those who have test results indicating no need for the GFCF diet still respond greatly to removing casein/gluten. Lots of false negatives. I would also not do a challenge test of any sort, but that is my personal opinion on how to approach chelation. Well, my opinion has been molded by listening to Andy Cutler. Our first DAN! doctor visit totaled $1100. Probably $700 in tests. I never ran them through our insurance company because I knew we were going to be switching companies and I was HOPING to keep Ian on our private insurance (yeah, like THAT worked). Guest guest
The challenge test (urine toxic metal) after dmps is not a good idea if it's a single dose or high dose. High probablitity of redistribution of the toxins. S S <tt> Went to the DAN dr. last week. Guest guest
We did all the ones you mentioned and we were very fortunate that we were reimbursed by our insurance. Contact your insurance company. Doctors data, Great smokies, and a few others are reimbursed at 100% under my plan. I just urged the doctor to only use labs where I got reimbursed. I've had some folks tell me that perhaps other labs were better and i could have gotton different results....but my DAN doctor wasn't really recommending much outside doctors data or great plains. He did do an immunoscience panel that was very interesting and gave us a lot of info like myelin antibiodies, several virus that our son was carrying, etc. > Went to the DAN dr. last week.
