My name is Eileen Groff,

I am a mother of 2 kids - my son is 4.5 yrs and my daughter is 16 months. I am a SAHM and wife of the greatest husband in the world (sorry ladies he is the best!)

I have been GF for almost 10 years now. I was diagnosed with IBS in '97 but I did not believe the diagnosis. I had soo many symptoms that were pointing to celiac, so I went GF and have been pretty healthy....up until the birth of my daughter.

My husband and I are the "I Can Eat That" Bakery. We launched the company after a few years of making our own breads and wanting to offer others that are GF a better product than the ones that were on the market. If you have not heard of our products, or want more info you can e-mail back or e-mail us at info@....

I have been reading the e-mails and I would encourage anyone that has 'itching' that is not already attributed to wheat to consider the possibility that it could be another intolerance like dairy or soy.

My son has had eczema since he was 3 months old. He has suffered with the 'itchies' for the last 4 years because MD's only wanted to prescribe Elidil and Atarax to control it. We tried everything topically, to control it. (Our house is GF so it is not wheat allergy/intolerance).

Last year, with the birth of my daughter, I became VERY intolerant to dairy, when previously I did not have any problems with it. My daughter also began to have strange spells of (green) vomiting and lethargy that we had top take her to the hospital for. She would also have horrible poops that smelled really bad. All this was happening while she was still only breast fed - no other foods. They could not find a cause.

We now have a GF, Dairy free, Soy free and have been like this for about 8 months now. As soon as I went dairy free and made our house dairy free-My sons eczema went away completely!! Every time he eats foods that contain dairy (lactose & /or casein) he gets the 'itchies'. It mostly occurs on his back, inside elbows and the backs of his knees. My daughter has not thrown up again. And my symptoms (gas, bloating, hives, migraines) went away!!

Please try to get rid of dairy and see if it helps. If you continue to eat foods that create adverse reactions in your body - you set your self up for more allergies and other illnesses.

Let me say that getting dairy out of my diet has been about 10 times as hard as getting wheat out and very depressing!...but the rewards are great. I hated to see my son suffer, and perhaps he may grow out of this dairy allergy/intolerance. But if not, I am setting the example he will need to live by and helping him to be aware and protective of his health.

Anyone can feel free to e-mail me more about food allergies/intolerances. I am happy to try to support others that are going through this too. I am also happy to talk with anyone about helping children with multiple allergies like my son's (nuts, fish, milk, wheat, soy)

All our best wishes to all the GF community. I think with more awareness society may find that GF and dairy free is healthier for everyone.

do you have more info on that? my son itches all the time (like every single minute he has lived so far), and reacts to atarax (so it's out).he doesnt have any ratch, rather self inflicted cuts.I believe it's his lactose intolerence, but I have some difficulty controling it.. and the strict diet has been great to reduce it, but it never really stopped. any simple test?thanks, Sophie and .>> If any of you develop severe itching without -- without -- a rash, please > talk to your doctor about the possibility of another autoimmune disease that > affects the liver; it miust be treated promptly. thanks for your support.

because of the " complicated " diet for my son, we have joined

kidswithfoodallergies.org .

and yes, we went on elimination diet, rotation diet ..

the problem is that for 2 years tests would not show any results... so we had

to tiptoe

each and every new food.

the best I found so far is gluten free, lactose free, and soy free (plus the

obvious nut/

peanut/ shell fish free). He was on strict egg free for 12months, after a scary

getting all

blue and throwing up first contact.

But it's true that there are so many gluten free groups that it get trickier to

find some food

for a specific group... and in the same family, there are probably as many GF

diets as

members.
