Guest guest
Pr jeffrey aron says that - good and long GF diet prevents most miscarriage linked to celiac. and/or starting a GF diet reduces dramaticaly the miscarriages number. (it's an autoimmune problem, and somehow it's linked with other autoimmune, including " self rejection " of the external being trying to nest) (so if I understood right, you could get pregnant every month, but the baby would not nest every single month because the uterus is not welcoming .. which creates a fertility puzzle, as mom and dad can be extremly fertiles but IVF wouldnt work) - take preg vitamins (make sure you get SEPCIAL ones as they *ALL* have gluten. You can talk with your dr, and you would probably be asked to start vitamines like now.. and not stop untill couple years after you last birth) - eat your greens (broccoli) depending on your own doc and insurance, and if you have more specific questions, he does do some pregnancy " care " .. (and If I'm right, he has some ongoing studies about prgnant moms and breastfeeding moms) Sophie > > Hi: > > Recently I found someone special. Guest guest
I may not be the best person to advise on this, but please be assured that not all women with celiac have trouble getting pregnant. (I have been pregnant ten times – all while suffering from celiac). I would say that how fertile you are also depends on a lot of other factors – what have you been doing for birth control, how fertile is your family, etc. Having been pregnant a BUNCH of times, I would be happy to have a conversation with you about everything I’ve learned. My boyfriend and I are talking seriously of getting married and having children. However, I have developed celiac disease in the last five years, and I'm wondering how a pregnancy (or two) will affect my health, my immune system, and my over all well-being. What should I watch out for, take more or less of (vitamins, etc.)? Jill, sent an email regarding how it's harder for women with Celiac Disease to get pregnant, and can experience more miscarriages. Is this true? Are there certain factors, other than having CD, that might keep this from happening? Currently, I'm 36, and we probably won't get started until I'm 37. Would anyone be willing to share information, on or off-line, with me about this topic? Please advise, Louise Louise Audell art + design louiseaudell.com (415) 863-1533 Messenger with Voice. Guest guest
Hi Louise, I wanted to respond to you regarding your concrerns. I have had 3 healthy kids prior to me being diagnosed with CD. After I had my son, almost 7 years ago, I was diagnosed with CD. Since then, the past 5 years, I have experianced 9 miscarriages. I have had NO problems getting pregnant, it's keeping the baby that my body will not allow. None of my Dr.'s have told me that they feel this is the reason why I have been miscarrying. They have done all sorts of testing and they still have yet to come up with anything. So, needless to say I have been doing my own research and I truly feel that it is because of my Celiac. I just recently started on a GF diet and I know it can take anywhere from 6-12 months to get my intestines healthy again. I did discuss this with my GI dr. and he feels that I should try again in about 1 year and see how that goes. After reading many mnay posts by other women who have had the same problems, I truly feel that one day I will be able to have another child. I just got married 2 months ago and we want a baby so bad. We tried for the past 5 years and to no evail. I am encouraged that if I stick to this way of eating, we just might be able to have a baby soon. Take Care and good luck. in NorCal. Guest guest
Louise, My experience with trying to conceive was that it took us 3 years to successfully get pregnant and have a baby to term. I miscarried several times, and doctors could find no explanation for the infertility with either myself, or my husband (they called it unexplained infertility) While I was able to conceive and successfully have my 7 wk old without being on gluten free diet (I was still unaware of my diagnosis, and the symptoms seemed to go away during my pregnancy) I still suspect that untreated gluten sensitivity attributed to my miscarriages. I am now starting a gluten free diet in hopes that I will feel better, and I also want to be sure that my son is ok as well. Good luck with everything and be your own advocate!
