Guest guest
Kay, << Geri, all I found out about SAMe was that it is beneficial for osteoporosis and - well, something else like PMS. Why can't I remember these things? It makes me angry sometimes. Please let me know what your Swiss connection says. I am with you in not wanting to take anything unnecessary, but wanting to take anything beneficial. >> Time Magazine did have an excellent article about SAMe a couple of months ago but I didn't keep it because I figured I'd hear a lot more about it. Wrong! I have to e-mail my friend tonight because our grandson is supposed to have spent today with her family and I want to find out if it happened. Now, I just have to remember to mention it when I send the e-mail. She's been seriously ill with Lupus for 3 years but recently has improved dramatically, by the way, result of some med she's taking that I've never heard of. But, they don't always use the same names for the same drugs over there. I didn't realize SAMe also works for osteoporosis. Maybe I should take it on top of all the other wonder drugs I'm taking? I wish we were able to ask doctors about these supplements. Few of them seem to sanction them so they're not the place to get helpful information. Take care, Geri
Guest guest
Geri, I heard on my chat room that it is necessary to take magnesium with calcium because taking calcium makes us lose magnesium and we need to replace what we are losing. I dont understand the mechanism or even if it is true, just passing on what I heard. Guest guest
, I have to remember to ask my doctor about magnesium. I don't see him again until early December and my Hepatologist, who I see next week, has no interest in anything but my liver as far as I can tell. What you're saying makes sense. It would have a totally different function from vitamin D, it appears. Thanks and take care, Geri
Guest guest
Sophie, You mentioned that your son is lactose free - but is he totally dairy free? Even when my son has rice cheese he still reacts because it has casein (milk protein) in it. Check his diet again and try to eliminate all dairy to see if it helps the itchies. Also, if he has a nut allergy he may also be allergic to sesame - my dad and my son are too. He was on strict egg free for 12months, after a scary getting all blue and throwing up first contact. But it's true that there are so many gluten free groups that it get trickier to find some food for a specific group... and in the same family, there are probably as many GF diets as members.Sophie and > >> > If any of you develop severe itching without -- without -- a rash,> please> > talk to your doctor about the possibility of another autoimmune disease> that> > affects the liver; it miust be treated promptly. Guest guest
we tried casein/dairy free for just over 2months. With no real improvment/change. no nuts in the house, and i dont think he ever saw sesame in his life. (those have never really been part of my diet) thanks. I jungle with IGG and IGE test results.. (all dairies are medium, oat is very high, nuts are high Igg etc). And the last Ige should be in the mail tomorrow. lactose is very clear. 8 oz of milk in a day, and it's diarrhea for up to a week. (but it's negative on Ige) however, he did steal and eat 8oz of hard cheese like gruyere a couple of times, and I didnt see or notice anything afterwards. So he gets some very limited hard cheese. I'm more focussing on soy right now. the only time he had soy milk, he got hives. So I'm now considering to eliminate the last soy in our house: lecithine. But that one is hard :-( where will I find safe chocolate? anyway. Waiting for the tests results and I'll go from there.
