Guest guest
Holly, The information reported this morning was based on communications with Imus before ABC cancelled Kennedy's appearances. I left a message for Don's producer and Deirdre Imus late last night about the Kennedy cancellations. They probably won't pick them up until after today's show. I don't think this will be the last time we hear Don talk about Kennedy's article. Bobbie Imus just watching Imus, he mentioned the Kennedy piece in Rolling Stone. But he also said something I am not sure how he meant it. He said he is going to be on Good Morning America and a few other shows and then said "good, let these dickheads yell at him for awhile instead of me". last he said "you know these parents of these autistic kids, I'm tired of getting all this flack, and we're shipping this stuff all over the world." He is kinda incoherent with some of his speech and he jumps from point to point without connection but I hope he didn't mean that parents were harrassing him in a bad way. Does anyone know? I would be happy to write him a letter of support if he is getting heat from the NAAR-naysayers against autism research folks. Guest guest
Hi, I just didn't know if I interpreted his words correctly - due to his tendency to ramble or my lack of coffee. My question was did he say he is getting pressure from parents saying thimerosal isn't the problem? Did anyone else get the same feeling from watching that part at 613am? Imus just watching Imus, he mentioned the Kennedy piece in Rolling Stone. But he also said something I am not sure how he meant it. Guest guest
Holly, Don jumps around a lot and sometimes you could be confused about who exactly he is referring too, but he is definitely sympathetic to our side (as is his wife) and he understands the whole situation better than most people in his position. Bobbie Imus just watching Imus, he mentioned the Kennedy piece in Rolling Stone. But he also said something I am not sure how he meant it. Guest guest
yes i know he is sympathetic but my question was -- is he getting flack from some parents because he talks about mercury and autism? I realize it wouldnt be from us, but there are some parents out there who don't believe the mercury/autism connection and I wondered if what he meant was that they were contacting him to tell him to stop talking about it. Guest guest
Holly, What Don has said in the past is that he knows some important people, of considerable influence, who don't want to talk about the thimerosal/autism debate because they are concerned about being attacked the way he was. I think this is what he was referring to this morning but I'm sure he has been contacted by some parents who don't believe in the connection too. Bobbie Imus just watching Imus, he mentioned the Kennedy piece in Rolling Stone. But he also said something I am not sure how he meant it. Guest guest
The flack Imus is referring to, I believe, is the reprocussions of taking his stance, e.g. the Wall Street Journal article about the Imus Ranch. He, and some guests, have referred to the negative feedback discussing the thimerasol issue has yielded in recent shows. But it also could be possible that he's getting feedback from parents with opposing viewpoints. That was inevitable. In any case, I'm a regular listener and I don't think he's switching gears at all. Guest guest
That the numbers were going down...of 3-4 yo children..so they would've been born in '00/'01, when more thimerosal-free was available. > > Well, s is a " sissy-man " ...and a bit of a narcissist. > > Imus seems shocked at the RKJ article. Guest guest
Although I think, in the past, he's said he's getting overwhelmed with all the emails about autism, so if you do a thank you, perhaps just keep it in the subject line and keep the text short and sweet. Guest guest
the best way to THANK Imus is to order from his Imus Ranch store. I got a personal phone call from Bob Sellman who said that he would have his sales force tell Imus all of the orders received by parents of children with autism who are supporting him by buying his products- which support his non-profit ranch. http://www.imusranchfoods.com/ The price of a dozen sacks of coffee with postage is about $91- less than Starbucks- and it's organic! Thank Imus in a tangible way folks, please!! Guest guest
From listening, my guess is that the peripheral politics associated with his coverage of this topic--sponsors, guests, bosses, etc.--is more of an issue for him than a full inbox. I send a line or two of thanks regularly to let him know we're out there still, and appreciative. His forum for discussion remains the primary catalyst of our recent gains, politically and (minus ABC, et al) in the media. > Although I think, in the past, he's said he's getting overwhelmed with > all the emails about autism, so if you do a thank you, perhaps just > keep it in the subject line and keep the text short and sweet. > W >

Guest guest
LOL! The first thing that came to my mind when I heard he was on vacation was IMUS strapped to a chair in a cold, dimly lit basement with water dripping around him. Senator Frist is standing over him saying, " Rocko, show Mr. Imus how we deal with troublemakers. Moose, send cars out for both Kirby and RFK Jr. We will show these meddling bastards that injecting mercury into babies is safe once and for all! Guest guest
I can see it now...and a crack commando unit, " the Pissed Off Parent Brigade " barges in, frees the captives and places the Senator under arrest...to be DETAINED at Guantanamo for safe keeping, until he can be charged with treason (at some distant point in the future)! > > Right... we wouldn't be so paranoid if there weren't > > so many people out to get us!!! ;-) > > > > Max > >
Guest guest
We have a DVR (like Tivo basically), and usually it does not 'know' about last minute program changes. Imus's show is not in the schedule for this week, therefore it seems that it was a planned vacation. I'm just guessing, and I hope that's the case. You're right, Max!
