Are you planning on making pumpkin pie?

If so, I highly recommend getting Crave’s Pumpkin Tart.  That is what I

am doing.  (And I, for the record, am a complete pumpkin pie SNOB).  I have

made mine every Thanksgiving, from scratch – and I mean from scratch –

gutting the pumpkin & all, except last year (post celiac).  I knees almost

buckled from sheer delight when I tasted the Crave Pumpkin Tart at the

conference.

As for the rest of the meal, I am going

completely non-traditional this year.  Money has been pretty tight, so we haven’t

been able to eat like we normally would, so this year I told my husband that

all I wanted in the world for Thanksgiving is GF Pizza & GF Beer.  So that

is what we’re doing.  We’re going up to my dad’s, bringing all

our GF supplies, making the Namaste pizza crust the night before (my favorite

so far, though I haven’t tried I Can Eat That), and the only other thing

we are eating besides the pizza is some fois gras and cheese (GF crackers for

me)…  Oh, and the aforementioned Pumpkin Tart for me, regular pumpkin pie

for everyone else, and my famous brandy whipped crème to top both pies.

My beverage of choice will be Bard’s

Tale Dragon’s Gold, and when that runs out, some nice red wine.  (And

maybe a brandy drink to compliment the pie)  ;-)

What is everyone else doing?

Thanksgiving recipes - gf pie crust?

Hey there,

Is anyone making some cool gf dishes for Thanksgiving this year? If

you feel like sharing, I'd love to hear what people are doing.

In particular, I'm looking for a pie crust recipe that's been tested a

few times and is proven to hold up. Any thing to offer? I'd appreciate

it.

My only thing to mention is that I have used the organic pumpkin pie

mix (can't remember the brand but it's sold in cans in Whole Foods

among other places) to make both cookies and muffins -- it's worked

great.

happy holiday,

Try mixing the Pamela's shortbread with some GF gingersnaps. Really good in pumpkin pie, not bad for key lime pie.

A little late for Thanksgiving, but maybe not for xmas. For pumpkin

pie, I use Pamela's GF shortbread cookies, crumbled with a little

butter added to make it stick together. Bake the crust seperately for

about ten minutes before putting the pie innards in. Cover edges with

foil to prevent over-browning. I can't keep the non-GF people away

from it. You may be thinking "cookie crust with pumpkin pie?" but I

did this pre-GF and its a big hit.
