Guest guest
My doc has done an endoscopy on my 23 month old PDD-NOS son and has diagnosed him with Esophagitis caused by a mild case of acid reflux. He has prescribed for him Prevacid 15mg 2x a day. I have not been to a DAN doc as of yet but was wondering how most DAN docs treat this problem. He also had no evidence of leaky gut or allergies for celiac/casein, but I have taken him off casein and am slowly removing the gluten in the next few weeks, just to look for signs of improvement. Any clues as to why my son has this and how does most DAN practioners treat it? I also have to ask if Garrett's insides look " leaky gut free " how come removing foods is so important? Can the milk and gluten proteins get into his blood without this leaky gut syndrome? Also, is this diet life long? Do the children get over their intolerances by a certain age? What is the cure for this food intolerance? Thanks!
Guest guest
When my son was scoped, they found severe acid reflux disease. He is on 30 mg Prevacid each morning. In fact, they found scar tissue from where he had burned for years and couldn't tell us. Pamela " Courage is doing what you're afraid to do. There can be no courage unless you're scared. Guest guest
My mother had reflux issues and does not like to use medication ever, however, she did try Prevacid and Zantac with not results. She went to see the ND doctor in my area and he put her on digestive enzymes and she hasn't had a problem since. Have you tried this? For my boys, I use HNI enzymes: www.houstonni.com HTH~ Jackie > My doc has done an endoscopy on my 23 month old PDD-NOS son and has > diagnosed him with Esophagitis caused by a mild case of acid reflux. > He has prescribed for him Prevacid 15mg 2x a day. In my family, reflux was caused by food intolerance. >>Also, is this diet > life long? My son lost all food issues at the end of ALA chelation. >>Do the children get over their intolerances by a certain > age? What is the cure for this food intolerance? For my son, chelation was the cure. For some kids, use of enzymes can be helpful. http://www.houstonni.com/ Enzymes helped my son with most foods, but not all. At the end of chelation, he was able to eat ALL foods, without enzymes. I do believe that the enzymes, as well as B6 and probably other supplements, was also required, along with chelation, to heal my son's gut. Good luck. Guest guest
Thanks so much for all the answers! How old was your son when he started chelation and how long did it take? What method did you use? Is he considered to be recovered from his original diagnose? These stories help me so much in my search for answers for my young son... > > My doc has done an endoscopy on my 23 month old PDD-NOS son and has > > diagnosed him with Esophagitis caused by a mild case of acid reflux. > > > In my family, reflux was caused by food intolerance. > > > >>Also, is this diet > > life long? > > > My son lost all food issues at the end of ALA chelation. > > > >>Do the children get over their intolerances by a certain > > age? He no longer qualifies as autistic, but still has significant language delay. It has taken many many interventions to get the language going. Recently I added IP6 for iron toxicity with VERY GOOD results. Guest guest
> Dana: How did you know your son was iron toxic, did you run a blood test or > what did you do? I noticed that whenever I gave him a supplement containing iron, he would severely regress. I gave him IP6, which eliminates iron, and he improved. As I understand it, if you want to test, you would request a " full body iron panel " .
