Guest guest
Also, chelators must be given every four hours around the clock, even at night. Read the files. [ ] Am I giving my 3 yr old too much DMSA and ALA? I just started my 3 yr old, 30 lb son, on his fourth round of chelation with DMSA and ALA. Last month was horrible. His DAN doc had me giving him 100 mg of ALA and 50 mg of DMSA once every four hours (during day only)-four days on, three off. When I started chelation with him, I also started giving him Sunchlorella, Full Spectrum Minerals, and Opti- Zinc. He became violently ill on the last day of his last round. I posted on a different site and several people seemed to be shocked by the dosage amt. I, of course, contacted his DAN doc. He has changed his dosage to 25 mg of DMSA and 50 mg of ALA every four hours (during day)-3 days on, four days off. He is non-verbal and can't tell me how he feels. For those of you who know what it does to your body and how it makes you FEEL, please let me know what you think. I don't want to see him that ill again. I've never been so scared! Thanks for helping the newbie out!! Carol =======================================================

Guest guest
Its all here _http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/_ (http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/) Okay, I'm going to change the dosage amt and I'm going to give the DMSA and ALA at night. I'm also going to quit the chlorella. Do I still give the Full Spectrum Minerals and Optizinc? Do I still do 3 days on, 4 days off? His OAT test showed he had elevated levels of lead. His hair test showed high antimony and bismuth. Does he need both DMSA and ALA? I know that I have a lot of questions and I know that I need to research this and find the answers for myself. Is there a good comprehensive site to explain all of this or do I need to search through the files on this forum? Thanks for all of the responses. They have all been very helpful. His DAN doc had me giving > him 100 mg of ALA and 50 mg of DMSA once every four hours (during day > only)-four days on, three off. Major problem: skipping the night time dose. Your metabolism doesn't stop at night, the clock continues to run, the dose has to be given at 4 hours. Minor problem: most people seem to do better on 3 hour daytime dosing when ALA is involved than on 4 hour dosing. >When I started chelation with him, I > also started giving him Sunchlorella, Never give him any of this or any similar product. Guest guest
Carol: The best/easiest ways are: 1. to get Andy Cutler's books: Amalgam Illness and Hair Interpretations. Someone help me out with the web site, Please! 2. Do a google search for onibasu. This will allow you to research any topic you need from the file, such as chelation protocol. Read them all and decide. On Onibasu, type in supplements and you will find what you need, usually C (at least 3-4 times a day), magnesium, zinc, etc. Yes the minerals and the zinc are just fine to give. Yes, dmsa is needed for lead. Some people start with just dmsa 1/8 mg per 4 hours day and night per lb of your angel for 3-6 rounds just to make sure the body burden of mercury is down to acceptable levels. After that you can add ALA 1/8 mg per lb with the ALA every 3 hours during the day and every 3-4 hours at night. Once you see how he/she responds you can up the dose slowly to as much as 1/2 mg per lb of each. Some people start with both dmsa and ala. Yes, most people do 3 days on, then 4 days off. Some people do 3-4 days on, then 11 days off. Do the 3/4 and see how he/she responds. Feel free to ask lots of any questions or to email me on the list or privately. Guest guest
I've visited Moria's site before, but it took a little convincing to change the dosing amt and schedule. What I've read here seems logical and safe so my husband and I have chosen this over our DAN doc's recommendations. Anyway, by visiting the site, I have figured out how much to give my son and when. This is very basic info, I'm sure, but I'm not quite clear on the terms " cycle " and " round " . I've heard both terms mentioned. Is one cycle = 3 days on, 4 days off? Also, do you continually do this each week or do you take off at some point...like a week each month? I only ask because (under the DAN doc) we've been doing 3 days on, 4 days off (for 3 weeks ea. mo. )- nothing fourth week. Of course, we haven't been dosing at night so it all could be wrong...arggghh! Like the GFCF diet, I'm sure this will be second nature for my family very soon. I very much appreciate all of you who offer your knowledge and experience! Guest guest
Carol, This may explain more for you on the chelation schedule with 3 on 4 off or 3 on 11 off: http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/Andy_dose_sched.html I am not certain how many rounds you have done, but if the 3 days on 4 days off is too much, you may want to do the 3 days on 11 days off to start and then after several rounds or so, you can change it to 3 days on and 4 days off. I err on the side of caution, to get started, and am going to be starting on the 3 days on 11 days off cycle (waiting until Kindergarten is done). Basically this is every other weekend. It is a consistent cycle and I will be able to treat any symptoms of yeast etc. that arise more effectively by doing the 3/11 cycle and then as things get better health wise, I will most likely change to the 3 days on 4 days off cycle. I personally will be doing DMSA for 2 months or 4 rounds (3 on, 11 off) then adding ALA to the mix. I personally want to start low and slow and feel comfortable with what I am observing from my son before I change/add anything. At least you are educating yourself now, just because you are seeing a DAN! doctor doesn't mean he is doing the best protocol for your child. I interviewed the DAN! doctor on the telephone before we met, told him what I wanted to do and we further discussed this at my son's first visit (yesterday) and we will now communicate via e-mail or phone (he is 1 1/2 hours away) and he will order tests for me. Other than that, I personally feel this list has educated me enough to give me confidence in chelation over the past 3 months that I have been researching and educating myself. You will find people on this list very helpful!!! For additional information, I would also reference Dana's website as she has valuable information provided here. (I went through it with a fine tooth comb many times!!!) http://www.danasview.net/parent3.htm HTH~ Jackie---------- > I've visited Moria's site before, but it took a little convincing to > change the dosing amt and schedule. Yay for you! > I'm not quite clear on the terms " cycle " and " round " . I've heard > both terms mentioned. I think they're the same thing. Also, > do you continually do this each week or do you take off at some > point...like a week each month? People do different things. Sometimes we get tired and take a break of a week or so. In the beginning yeast was a problem and when it got bad we'd take a break, which meant for the first 6-9 months we only averaged 2 rounds a month. Now that we're up to round 46 I've been able to do as many as 5 weeks in a row. One thing that took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out was the best way to split the doses with my husband. Now I go to bed early and he does the midnight dose and I do the 4 am -- but I've already slept 6 or 7 hours by then and it's not so bad. Often I have my son sleep with me that night so all I have to do is roll over, give him his capsule, and go back to sleep. Nell
