Guest guest
Now you undrstand why it is counter productive to give anti fever remedies. unless the temp goes really high.. [ ] OMG! I think I understand why my son seems to improve after he's been seek Countless times I have mentioned to my husband, my parents and the people who work with my son how strange it was that his Autism seemed improve after he has been sick with a fever. Everyone that works with my son has seen this happen. They all say it can't be coincindence. This has been going on for 3 years now. He has only ran a fever a half a dozen times or so in that time, but each time he has consistently shown improvment in his speech, eye contact and his attention span. It's like after he's had a fever everything we had been working on with him suddenly " clicks " . I even did some searching on Autism, brain function and fever thinking that somehow maybe his brain was recovering little by little each time that he had a fever. But I never found anything even remotely related to this issue.....until today! I have been looking into different forms of detox and found some info on chelation treatments with infrared saunas. When I read about how the sauna induces hyperthermia (fever) which enables the body to sweat out the heavy metal toxins! And a huge light bulb went off!!! The fevers he had were affecting him the same way as the infrared sauna would!! Does this make sense or am I too far out in my thinking?? =======================================================
Guest guest
I couldn't agree with you more . I always hesitate to quickly dump tylenol into my kids at the first sign of fever. I do understand how a fever is a " good " thing, and the body is fighting infection.... But just try to explain that to grandparents!!! I mentioned that to my mom one time and I thought she was going to call " Child Protection Svcs " on me! Guest guest
Yes, but it can also be that part of his autism is viral and the fevers kill the virus. Many kids use antivirals as part of their treatment. Barb [ ] OMG! Guest guest
I kind of agree with Barb: I don't think you can assume that " sweating out the toxins " is the whole answer. For one thing, it has been stated in this forum that 75% of autistics get better from treating for Mercury and 25% don't. I think there can be diverse causes of some of the issues these kids have. I use the analogy that saying someone has " asperger's syndrome " is about like saying someone has " a fever " . Asperger's Syndrome, autism, etc. describe a set of symptoms -- diverse symptoms with many variations -- and, just like with a fever, there can be many underlying causes. For example: food allergies, genetic disorders, etc. can contribute to the gut issues that are so common in this population. It isn't like diagnosing someone with malaria, which has a specific known cause and well-defined treatment. Anyway, in that vein, here is an article called " Diseases of the Mind: Bacteria, viruses and parasites may cause mental illnesses like depression and perhaps even autism and anorexia " http://msnbc.msn.com/id/3540627/ HTH, Michele in California calif.michele@... webmaster@... Guest guest
I don't think you're that far out with your theoretical thinking. Another little tidbit of information is that the blood brain barrier is weakened by heat. Also, incidentally, metals can also be affected towards their melting points by heat. Depending on the metal and the body temperature, metals theoretically can pass OUT of the BBB (from where they were trapped into the brain) if the body temperature is effected enough to make the bbb more permeable or lax. Body temperature can be affected by heat generated by sauna, exercise, humidity, fever or any high temp situation. In other words, it is not improbable that your son gets better by any kind of means after fever. Fever does often promote heat affects to the bbb, as well as promote sweating detoxificatio of impurities via skin. Steam baths have their place in promotion of health (sauna later develoment). On a semi-humourous, but medically truthful note, blood letting also has it's place in promotion of health. Let's say the blood is filled with some impurity or toxin, or heavy metal recent exposure...leeching or blood letting was certainly a way to get rid of some of the " bad blood. " Interesting trivia (or trivially interesting). This is commonly associated with virus issues in autism. I used olive leaf extract for my son's virus issues. I know others who use Lauricidin, altho that tremendously increased yeast for my son. Guest guest
It's been discussed various times on this list. Others have had the same experience. Does your son's temp run low regularly (from mercury-induced thyroid issues, for example)? Perhaps the body needs a certain minimum temp for particular " normal " biological functions to take place.
