Guest guest
valproic acid is another word for depakene or depakote. Its a seizure medication that can harm the liver. Guest guest
Theresa, You don't say what the genetic disorder is - sounds like it could be one of the mitochondrial disorders. I think these are essentially genetic problems, but any condition can be exacerbated by environment. I think it's always worth looking for some complementary care from a licensed naturopathic doctor, especially if you can find one who knows something about the disorder in question. I would certainly not stop the medical support unless there is a good reason to believe the treatment is making things worse, or that an alternate approach could make things much better. A member of my family has taken valproic acid for many years for a seizure disorder. It is the only thing that helped him and is less toxic than other drugs he tried. That's my somewhat educated, but by no means expert opinion. -- > Hello everyone, > I read a story today about a baby..now 2 who has a genetic condition that causes death eventually.nuero degenerative. The mom is trying to get the baby into a study that combines valporic acid and carnitine as a means to slow the progression of the disease,it was also mentioned this " genetic " condition causes the body to not make certain proteins needed to controle muscels in the body. The baby was normally developing until 8 months of age.Could some of the dan protocolls help this baby?Is valporic acid by script only?I think this is another case of enviroment pulling the trigger on yet another child. The docs here are not going to do anything not mainstream..we live in Va Beach Va,but there are some good Dan's close to us.Any input would be great to try to help this little one > thanks > theresa
