Whole Foods and many other stores sells"energy bars" that are GF and, to my taste, delicious. The two I like are AlpSnacks, which are based on flax seed and fruit, and Lara Bars, which contain nothing but fruit, nuts, spices. cocoa, and coconut, depending on the flavor. The AlpSnack flavors I prefer are apricot and plum; they also make coconut/mango and espresso.

Keeping one of these with me all the time has saved me from crashing many times. They are very sweet, because of the dried fruit; they aren't a perfect solution. When everyone else is sitting around eating cake with their coffee, it's great to be able to reach into your pocket and pull out one of these bars.

That's interesting ... where did you hear/read about it?

I have to use Aquafresh for sensitive teeth and sometimes a prescription

toothpaste with a very high amount of fluoride for pain. I'm not aware of a

difference but wasn't really making a point of observing it either.

Doug, did I detect your tongue in your cheek when you asked that last question?

Do you brush normally, swallow or smell it to get the benefit?

Actually, I was quite serious LOL!

I did do a web search and found this. So it does have some merit to it.

Yes,the group rules do state that holistic cures are not allowed in the group

however, this topic was not posted to try to SELL any product. Thus, I allowed

it through :)

As always everyone, do not make any changes to your healthcare without first

consulting your doctor. In fact, ask him/her about it and she what he/she says

LOL :)

Hi all,

This topic came up around April/May of last year when I first caught wind of it.

I did a literature search in PubMed (a repository of millions of

medical/scientific abstracts), and there are no entries for: " potassium nitrate "

+ asthma, or, " Potassium nitrate " + airway smooth muscle.

Because there are absolutely no articles (trials, case reports, or otherwise), I

would find it very hard to believe that this would be an effective treatment

whatsoever for asthma. Testimonials presented are likely coincidental and

subjective.

Here is one website that describes its use in a matter of antiquity:

erapeutics/9-Potassii-Nitras-Potassium-Nitrate.html

My father and my mother in law were asthmatics back in the 20's, 30's, 40's

before modern inhalers were on the market.

Dad used to use an asthma powder that came in a can. He would pour some of it

into the lid, set it on fire and breathe in the smoke.

Those were the prescription medications of the day back then.

These products probably had the same ingredients as the toothpaste.

ON another subject............

I am getting over my latest case of bronchitis and still coughing and hacking a

lot. Asthma has been very mild during all of this. My allergist let me have my

xolair shots today but stopped short of letting me have my regular allergy shot.

You never know LOL
