Guest guest
Just wanted to share a little something that I tried this weekend. I have been looking for a pizza crust that would be a little crispy instead of the usual dry bland taste of a g-f pizza crust. I have tried making lots of pizza crust recipes, as well as frozen pizza crusts, and I have not found one I have really liked so far. I bought the Kinnikinnick frozen pizza crusts. I thawed one out and then had an idea to make it crispier. I rubbed a little Crisco shortening over the top, bottom and sides of the pizza (I presume you could use any type of oil or butter, too). I baked it on parchment paper at 375 degrees until light brown, then put the pizza sauce, cheese and toppings on it and put it back in the oven until the cheese had melted and it was all brown and bubbly. It was absolutely delicious. The shortening not only made it crispier, but also gave it a great taste. I'm tempted to try Butter Crisco next time. I'm sure it's not the healthiest pizza we could eat, but it sure made it taste terrific! Sue
