The Remicade isn't supposed to stop the damage but slow its progression.

Since I've been on it over a year now I haven't noticed any additional

damage, but I am sure I am having minimal damage now as to where it was more

before Remicade, due to present noticeable swelling.

I ditto that. I can't remember what not having pain feels like. I've had

this 19 years now and have built up quite a tolerance to it. I sit here now

in pain, but I am able to ignore it pretty well.

That's how Dr. Bihari had me do it.. 4.5 to start, if I had problems, he

told me to back off to 3.. I take it at midnight.

So far no problems, so I've been on 4.5 since July 29th.

Take care,

Janis

Stella:

Based upon my observation of this site, it appears that a lot of MS'er cannot tolerate 4.5 mg. They express the same complaint as you. A lot appear to tolerate 3.0 mg of LDN with an occasional person having to use 1.75-2.0 mg. So, start reducing your dosage until you find your dose. Everyone's tolerance is different.

low dose naltrexone

Sent: Tuesday, September 23, 2003 7:38 AM

Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Question?

The past couple of weeks have been very difficult for me. I changed my dose to the lactose free form and automatically started with the 4.5 dose. I've been on it for about a month. Is it possible that it is the ldn that is making my legs stiff and weak? It didn't hit me that it could be what is causing my problems until I was lying in bed last night. I don't think it is an exacerbation because those are my only symptoms. If that is the problem, what should I lower my dose to?

Thank you,

Stella

Hi Stella....According to my Pharmacist, the leg stiffness is due to

the muscles waking up and being used, and just like when you overdo

excercise, your muscles get stiff. If you keep stretching and

light excercise, the leg stiffness shoud go away gradually.

Also, with LDN, sometimes less is better, for some people. I was on

4.5 and went back down to 3mg, and now I'm doing pretty well....leg

stiffness is there sometimes, but not as bad.

I hope this helped you

Keep in mind that blood tests are notorious for false negatives for CD.

So I've been emailing my doctor, who hasn't been giving me good

responses,so I'll ask you. I am trying to arrange to take the blood

test (BLOOD TEST, I'm not getting a biopsy) for celiac,

does anyone have any idea how long I need to be EATING GLUTEN again for

this to be reliable??? I have been on a GF diet for the past two or so

months.

For anyone that lives in the SF bay area. Does anyone have a Kaiser

doctor recommendation for someone who actually has a clue about

celiac? San , Richmond, or Oakland (preference in that order).

Thanks so much! This list has been so much help, I really appreciate

you guys.

Well I got the blood test before going off gluten. Then was off for about 6

months and was told to go back on it to do more testing - so I had one

dinner and one breakfast and got really, really sick so I cancelled the

test.

Lil, my GI in SF in Dr. Shlager. He quickly diagnosed an autoimmune disease I had that most doctors never see in a lifetime. Later, he suspected I also had CD, even though at that time I was obese (due to necesssary treatment for the first disease) and hadn't complained of digestive problems. When the blood test was negative, he did a biopsy, and he followed that up with a second biopsy six months later to confirm that my going GF was resulting in healed vilii -- that is, to confirm the diagnosis.

I can't say much for his staff members, but I certainly recommend him as a diagnostician.
