I would like to get a second opinion about whether a 2nd band is feasible for my

son. He might be graduating from his DOC Band in the next few weeks. When we

were there for our initial evaluation, we were told to expect 2 bands. His

cranial vault asymmetry measured 14mm. They told us the best we could hope for

was a 7, and even that was being generous. So, from the beginning, they set our

expectations that his head won't correct fully. He's made great progress in

this first band, but I feel like he could still use some correction. I am

perfectly willing to put him in the 2nd since I was expecting it anyway.

Further, if we could get additional correction, that would be great. He just

turned 15 months Oct 11th, so I feel like there's still time and brain / head

growth there to take advantage of. I guess I am looking for a second opinion to

see whether a 2nd band would give us more correction. Maybe we're at the 7 now

and this is the best we'll get. I don't know. Maybe I'm looking for a little

peace of mind that we took advantage of every opportunity to correct this while

we had the chance.

When he was there for his last adjustment on 10/11, she said he was now

borderline (i.e., if I had brought him in that day for an evaluation, she

probably wouldn't band him). She said he had about 5-6 weeks left in that band.

Then I asked about the 2nd band, and she said he probably won't need it. I

explained that I'm perfectly willing to put him in it. But she seemed kind of

unwilling to go that route... explaining that there has to be a certain amount

of asymmetry present for the band to work and to fit properly, etc. I go again

Monday, 10/25 for another photo study. I think they're doing it to show me that

he doesn't need the 2nd band. But I can look at his head in real life (i.e.,

not photos) and see that he still needs correction. I hope they'll do

measurements again on Monday so I can compare numbers a bit. I guess either

way, I'll request the measurements. Maybe that will give me some sense for how

close to the 7 (or maybe even better than that) we are.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
