Hi there Carla,

I don't often post to this group, but caught sight of your post about Chico. I

am from

Chico, though I don't admit it often! There are a few options you can check out

while

visiting, though I would call ALL in advance as Chico is changing fast, sadly

some of these

may be gone:/ As far as I know there are no strictly gluten free restaurants or

even menus

available (if you find some please let me know!), but there are several

restaurants that you

could probably make do (likely with some amount of modifications) to eat at. Of

course if

these are not cutting it, they do have a Trader Joes now and 2 wonderful health

food

stores, Chico Natural Foods and S & S Produce. Calling both Health food stores

and asking

q's may also give you new & updated info!

Gen Kai Japanese Cuisine - (if you eat sushi bring your WF Tamari)

2201 Pillsbury Rd #E1, Chico, CA 95926

Grayatip Thai Cuisine - (specify no soy sauce & avoid deep fried items)

2574 Esplanade, Chico, CA 95973

Jon & Bon's Yogurt Shoppe -(not to be missed if you like frozen yogurt!!!)

1008 W Sacramento Ave #C, Chico, CA 95926

Kramore Inn - (you can't have the crepes:(, but they have a great salads, soups)

1903 Park Ave, Chico, CA 95928

Kumar's Indian Cuisine - (do without Naan, samosaa, pakoras, all fried items,

most all else

should be safe)

3221 Esplanade, Chico, CA 95973

Cafe Sandino 817 Main st. Chico, Ca 95928 (530) 894-6515 Is located on the edge

of

downtown Chico directly across the street from a natural foods store. It is a

full service

restaurant open Monday through Saturday for lunch and dinner (11am to 9pm). It's

small

and has an enviting cozy atmosphere. The restaurant was founded by Goodwin

as a

place to serve and sell her vegetarian tamales. It has definitly grown from the

tamale stand

it was into a Chico tradition. We still sell the tamales makes as well as

serve dishes

with the seitan she produces from her company Today's Traditions. It is

primarily

southwestern type food. Rice, Beans, Spicy Tofu. The dinner menu is a little

more diverse.

Tequila Tempeh: Red and green peppers, onions and mustard greens grilled with a

tequila

lime marinated tempeh over basmati rice. So good!! South African Stir Fry,

Sundried

Tomato Pesto Fettucini, and Favorites like Roasted Garlic Quesadilla and

Tostadas.

TRES HOMBRES, Mexican Cuisine, A bit of a college scene, but decent food!

100 Broadway, downtown

Some other interesting tidbits is that Richvale, right out side Chico, is the

home of

Lundberg Farms and 's Gone Crackers is produced in Chico, as is Knudsen

Juices

which makes Santa Cruz Organics Juices.

This is another company that makes GF goodies:

Anyhow, I hope some of this is helpful and please do share when you return what

worked

best for you. Have a good time and bring cool clothes, as it gets uber scorching

hot there

in the summer! Cheers, Azalyne
