Lori Knowles is a mother of four children, with her youngest son receiving a diagnosis of autism at the age of 2.5 years. After her early intervention speech therapist gave her a copy of Dr. Shaw's " Biological Treatments for Autism and PDD " , she began aggressively seeking all possible interventions that could help her child. Lori currently works at the Great Plains Laboratory where she is an advocate for parents seeking to improve their children's lives. In addition, she has been a speaker at national and international autism conferences and is the director of the parent autism support group called SPIN (Spectrum Support Intervention Network). Myra Preston, PhD, a Board Certified Diplomate in Neuropathy, Neurotherapist, cognitive Behavioral Therapist and Biofeedback Therapist has been in private practice in Charlotte, N.C. since 1985. In 1990, Dr. Preston founded Siber Imaging, a multi-disciplinary neurophysiology practice treating patients with neurological disorders including AD(H)D, sleeping disorders, chronic fatigue syndrome, and many others. Autism is one of the many disorders which have been established as a neurobehavioral disorder. These terms recognize the fact that these once " mysterious disorders " are driven by and originate in the central nervous system. Identifying the disruption in the brain physiology of each individual child allows the opportunity to plan and carry through with proper treatment interventions. Neurofeedback treatment provides organization of the Autistic child's brain which has resulted in the calming of behavior, the acquisition of language, the ability to participate in a learning environment and the reduction of stress on the child's family by allowing the child to interact with the family in a more positive way.
