Guest guest
Culturelle is a probiotic and can be purchased, at least where I live in Pa., at any drug store. I'm sure someone will post the web site after seeing your post. culturelle > what is it and where do you get it. thankyou. tina > > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi For purchase inside the UK I use www.nutricentre.com I think its listed with the Kikrman Products. Its way chepaer from www.vrp.com when they have a 3 for 2 promotion which is quite regular but if you get the VAT slapped on plus the Royal Mail charge it then works out twice the price of Nutricentre For on line orders at Nutricentre you get £5 off for every £25 you spend plus no postage so thats how I usuallly do it HTH Mandi in UK > would love to give culturelle a try as i hear good things about it. where > is the best place to purchase from in the u.k ? >

Guest guest
The best prices I know are regularly at www.vitacost.com (about $16.50 or so a package). And Vitamin Research Products at www.vrp.com. At VRP it goes on sale for about $16.00 a package every 4 months. So if you buy the 'buy three packages and get one free' each quarter, you are stocked for a while and it works out to about 25% off a package plus you only pay one shipping cost. There may be other sources but those are the ones I know of. .
Guest guest
My son used them for about 3 months straight everyday without problems (his BMs were great!). We now rotate the probiotics in him with culturette, probio gold, and primal defense. A week or two on one then a week or two on the other. He is doing ok but we just finished a round of diflucan for yeast so we are upping the probiotics now and looking for good bms soon. Good luck and HTH, Dena
Guest guest
Is your probiotic rotation protocol based on a doc's recommendation or some other specific information you came across, Dena? Just curious, as I've contemplated doing this and never quite could figure out whether it would be a good idea or not with my guy. He seems to do well on primal defense, but not great on culturelle, and kind of awful on probio gold or the new Klaire ones (took us weeks to get up to full dose on Probio gold because of side effects and never saw much good bacteria), so we have kind of a probiotic issue around here. I could never tell for sure whether the reactions were a die off kind of problem, but they sure didn't seem to subside, even if we persisted for quite awhile, so my guess is not. Terri whose 10yo hfa son is on 5 days of *antibiotics* for the first time in over 3 years right now, for impetigo and ear infections --- yikes --- upping the primal defense and giving grapefruit seed ext. this week. If my son had a bacteria problem, Culturelle was good. If however he did NOT have a bacteria problem, he did not tolerate Culturelle. Not sure this will help, but there it is. Guest guest
Dana, I'm sure you've mentioned this before but could you answer yet again for me; when he didn't have a bacteria problem and you gave culturelle, what happened? Thanks, Rhonda Olivia's mom
Guest guest
We have had no problems with culturelle. My son has been taking it almost every day for two months. On days he does not take it, he has taken primal defense. He usually has not taken it because it cannot sit on the counter with the rest of his arsenal and I have forgotten to give it to him Robin
Guest guest
has anyone noticed any sleep problems with culturelle? My son has never had any problems sleeping. He has been on culturelle for about 9 days and wakes several times per night and wants Mommy to hold him. HE does not complain of any stomache problems he just does not want to be alone in his room??? Thanks for any help. > > Hi all, > > I wanted to know if anyone out there who has done well with > > Culturelle in the long term had had an adjustment period at first. > > > If my son had a bacteria problem, Culturelle was good. Major runny diarrhea and very stimmy. I kept using the Culturelle for a few weeks, thinking it was die off, but the problems never ended. Removing the Culturelle resulted in an end to the problems. Guest guest
>>>If I give my son Culturelle do I have to give it to him for a while, or can I stop giving it to him once we are out? How do I know it is working? , I used Culturelle with my younger son who had bacteria/colon problems. We knew it was working right away because the putrid smell of stools lessened considerably. When we ran out of Culturelle it started up again. Are you trying to correct a problem, or just give it for maintenance? I give a probiotic or yogurt with live cultures at least every other day because it is for gut health maintenance now. When I was trying to correct a problem I gave 3 capsules every day. Probiotics need to be given at least some each week because the beneficial microbes need it to replenish themselves (for some reason). The colonies get weak and can dwindle so low that the bad bacteria overrun them again. Like needing to add seed each fall and/or spring to an established lawn to keep it going. . Guest guest
Well, from what I can tell we have gotten rid of the yeast for now and I need something to give to him to keep it from coming back. jornmatt <kjorn@...> wrote: >>>If I give my son Culturelle do I have to give it to him for a while, or can I stop giving it to him once we are out? Once the bacteria was gone, I was able to remove the Culturelle. Dana
Guest guest
> Is the Culturelle something I can give him to keep the yeast infections from coming back? If he tolerates it, yes. But my son did not tolerate any probiotics, except he tolerated Culturelle but ONLY when he had a bacteria problem. Once the bacteria was gone, he would regress unless I removed the Culturelle. Guest guest
Hello all. I am confused about culturelle. It is a probiotic, correct? A probiotic is good bacteria (flora), correct? If so, then how is it effective is killing off bad bacteria? I understand the good bacteria, bad bacteria, and ugly yeast all compete for space. I don't get how good bacteria can kill off bad bacteria. Wouldn't the bad bacteria need to be killed off and replaced with good bacteria? Guest guest
We used culturelle successfully with my then 8 yo who had yeast and clostridia by OAT test. She also alternated SF722, colostrum, garlic caps and cranberry caps. I think Culturelle lowers the pH of the intestine as it populates it then that discourages the bad gut bugs. I know I only paid about $15 for it. This was a couple years ago. At the time it was the cheapest price around. ~
