Both cause the same basic behaviors. The difference is in the bms for my kids. Yeast is fluffy spongecake with strings of melted cheese in it. Bacteria is diluted cottage cheese. http://www.danasview.net/yeast.htm Dana
Guest guest
Hi, My daughter has the Clostridia issue, so we give at least 100 Billion CFU per day of Culturelle plus other probiotics. 100 Billion would be 5 of the 20 Billion tablets or 10 of the 10 Billion tablets that Culturelle puts out. We fight bacteria and yeast all the time by varying the supplements. If things get bad you can try Flagyl (metronidazole) or Vancomycin, or both if not at the same time. Vancomycin is the BIG GUN. Both are prescription antibiotics for bacteria in the gut. YOU MUST give 100 Billion of probiotics after the drugs are stopped or the spores that remain will just crop up again. At the current time we are winning the war, but we know it is a constant fight. Good luck, in Salt Lake

Guest guest
My question is about the CFUs per capsule. When I calculated how to get 100 to 120 Billion CFUs of Culturelle per day cheapest, I decided to buy from my doctor's office. Is it true that only medical practitioners can order the 20 Billion CFUs per capsule? Is the VitaCost one 20 Billion CFUs per capsule? Thanks for your help. Culturelle is expensive when you need as much as we do. It helps our daughter prevent Clostridia overgrowth. in Salt Lake City
Guest guest
There cheapest I know of is www.vitacost.com LGG 40 mg, 30 Caps for $16.99 I just ordered a few boxes for my husband and his officemates going to Brazil. Vitamin Research Products has a rotating sale and you can get it for $16.50 a box (approximately) every 3-4 months. .
Guest guest
> Do you parents that use Culturelle as a probiotic use it continually, just for the 30 day supply or less? I use Culturelle when my kids have a bacteria problem. If I use it everyday, they don't tolerate it and it causes problems. But when they have a bacteria problem, it works very well for us. Guest guest
Sorry if this has been asked before, I am kind of catching the tale end of this conversation, but where do you buy the Culturelle? I saw it listed on the Kirkman's website and thought I saw it somewhere else also. Thanks!
Guest guest
We do it daily and then when it seems like " yeast " issues are tapered off, we stop for a few days or a week or whatever, until we get symptoms of yeast again. It really helps with my son's BM's so I like to use it daily or at least every other. But I don't want to overuse it so I try to give breaks. We're alternating right now with bifidus. Truly, a P.S. I recently had an analysis done and I had plenty of lactobacillius so I stopped the culturelle for myself. If I took it, I was getting a stomach ache. Guest guest
I know there are kids who can take a few Culturelles daily, but my son can't. First, it constipates him horribly, to the point where he won't poop for three days after 1/2 capsule of Culturelle. BUT after a few days to a week of getting GSE, his stool is getting loose and broken into pieces, which to me means bacterial overgrowth. THEN I give him about 1/4 Culturelle for two days (along with his other probiotic, which he always gets) and his stool goes right back to normal. So we just use it occasionally. Guest guest
Dear , Other listmates may give you websites to purchase Culturelle, but it can be easily purchased at CVS and other drug stores that sell supplements. Maybe you can get it ordered through your local health food store. Guest guest
May I ask what you use for your other probiotic? The Culturelle didn't seem to do much for her so we just tried one dose of Ultra Bifidus DF for my daughter (6) and she didn't poop for 3 days and when she finally did (after my husband had to give her an enema - she actually asked for it!) she screamed like there was no tomorrow. We thought the neighbors were going to call the police. Good lord - the drama! So, we won't be doing that again - but she needs some sort of probiotic. She has more gas than an SUV with a full tank. Thanks, a > I know there are kids who can take a few Culturelles daily, but my son can't.
Guest guest
Also, if you call the company and ask, they'll send you coupons. I started out that way but then just split a case with my sister and saved myself something like 8 bucks a box. Incidentally, we use it every day per our GI and so far so good. Guest guest
Could the gas be from food allergies. My sons both have multiple food allergies and intolerances. Once I got a few key allergens out of their diets, the gas went away! > > So, we won't be doing that again - but she needs some sort of > probiotic. Guest guest
I agree with . Culturelle is known to be pretty great at knocking bad bacteria, so it could be a good week or so before he fully adjusts. It noticeably helped my son. You might want to consider epsom salt baths to help with the detox. And/or reduce the dose a bit so he is more comfortable. If you have extra vitamin C laying around, some of that may help. www.enzymestuff.com/epsomsalts.htm .

Guest guest
-Dana, Would the increasing the culturelle have any effect on constipation? He has been battling this since the begining. I have Obijwa tea. I use it and up to now he has had it only once or twice(texture issue). Would it be better to add this? Thanks. Guest guest
Benefiber works great for Constipation. Increase Vit. C and Magnesium as well for constipation. Benefiber was highly recommended at the last DAN Conference by several speakers. Any pharmacy or big store will carry it.
