Guest guest
Hi Irish, I've been watching the news too, glad that we're hearing about exactly what's going on down on the Gulf Coast, although thoroughly shocked with the governments' response (local/state/federal - the whole bunch). Being a Canuck, there's nothing I can do about that as I can't vote. It sure seems as though Americans are getting a taste of what is going on in other countries in terms of human suffering, especially where they have waged war. One wonders how they are able to manage their operations in Iraq, for example, if they can't manage this crisis at home. I sure hope they are held accountable for the lives lost that could have been avoided had they reacted sooner. It just doesn't make sense to me that massive numbers of people live and work below sea level, but the government apparently stripped the budget for work that would have built up the levees, for example. And letting people sit and wait for help for days post- Katrina is just inexcusable and inhumane. As soon as your federal government declared it a disaster area, they became responsible. We'll probably make a monetary donation as well. That's all we can do, other than be tourists and support the local economy in future. Yes, I've been away a fair amount this spring & summer, and couldn't get to the boards, so I missed your posts! You'll have to root around on site 2 for Shiloh's post, or beg me to tell you : ) No, I won't forget you, friend! Glad to see you here, and hope you'll continue to visit. > Hi there ! > > Thanks for posting and letting me know Cammie is AOK.
