Hi Folks,

It has been 10 days since my surgery (lefort-1, bsso, genio) -overbite

correction. Wondering how others fared (or are faring) at the about the same

time, post-op.

Here is my update:

1. Numbness/swelling: The swelling has come down a lot, but, the right side

is a little more swollen than the left. I still have some numbness under the

eye on the right side, and inside the mouth. The lower lip is still numb.

This is driving me nuts. The OS had a terse one-liner - " it is very early

to comment, takes time " . I

2. Pain: I feel fine, but, towards late night, I feel the jaw/muscle

stretches, and it hurts. Taking liquid ibuprofein helps. This has gone on for

the last two nights, and i don't want to continue this tonite for the fear

of addiction.(any suggestions?)

3. Congestion: It is much better now, but, is still mostly blocked there

on the left side. I still get some blood when I blow my nose.

4. Checkup with OS: I went in for my first checkup at 1-week mark. The OS

said that he is a little concerned about relapse (my lower was advanced by

18 mm - 12mm for bite correction, and 6 for genio, i think). He said that

during the surgery just after the placing the lower to the new position, the

tissues were so stretched that it had slid right back to the old slot (wow,

whatever that means..anyone understands this scenario?)

Anyway, as a precautionary measure, i am to be banded shut for 6 weeks

instead of the 2 weeks planned pre-op. Next week, he says he will change the

bands (tighten?).

Thanks,

Sriram
