A New Believer in Shakes

Greetings from sunny south Texas!

I will be 3 yrs post-op in April. Started at 278 in April 2001,

lowest weight was 170 (size 10 & 12) in Oct. 2002. It has been a

steady weight gain since then, to the tune of 29.5 lbs. This past

Monday I weighed in at 199.5 and I almost fell over! I had sworn I

would NEVER see 200 again and here I was just 1/2 lb from it. This

shocked me back to reality so I revamped my habits.

....primarily protein

....3 meals, no snacking

....1 gallon of water daily

....go back to the gym (I went steadily for 2 yrs then just stopped

going last May, no excuses, just stopped)

I have a huge container of protein powder and it was just sitting

there. Today I woke and decided to try an all day protein shake

fast. I am usually a pessimist by nature and was sure this wouldn't

work, that I wouldn't be able to do it. Lo and behold, I did it!!!!

I had a shake at 10, at 1, at 3, and at 8. I also walked for an

hour on the treadmill at an average heartrate of 145, 10.0 incline,

burned off 600 calories :-)

The best part of all this is that I was NOT hungry! The only time I

felt a little hunger pang was about 1 when I did the 2nd shake and

that stopped it immediately. I usually crave something sweet and

today I had no cravings whatsoever. My shake is just powder, 8 oz

water and 1 tsp s.f. strawberry syrup from Mama .

My childhood friend is getting married on 2/14 (5 wks from now) and

has asked me to be her matron of honor. I am hoping to get back

down to a 12, or at least a very comfortable 14, since my 14's are

now snug.

When I reached 170 all I wanted to do was get down to 155 or so.

Now all I want to do is get back down to my comfortable 170. I was

going to weigh in tomorrow, but I think I will wait till next

Monday, I think that will make me more accountable for what I put in

my mouth. I don't want to weigh in daily and see fluctuations.

I CAN DO IT! I CAN DO IT! I CAN DO IT!

Thanks for everyone's words of wisdom.
