Appearence of teeth after splint removed

When they did my DD upper jaw a Lafort I Ostonomy. They moved her jaw

4mm forward and widened her upper pallet. During the surgery her

wire broke and for 6 weeks she was without the wire only the splint.

She had her splint removed Tuesday and the wire immediately replaced

(two visits within the hour to both the OS and OD)

When looking at her one side of her front teeth appeared to be longer

than the other which freaked me out a little bit. Her OD said that he

can fix that with the braces. After only having the wire on one day I

can see an improvement. I was really concerned but relieved that it

does seem to be something that is fixable. Has anyone else ever seen

this happen. Is it because she didn't have an upper wire for 6 weeks or

because of the surgery itself?

Thanks

Anita
