Hi katie

Welcome to the group! I had braces pre op from the age of 13 -17 when

i had my surgery. the train tracks were removed 6-7 months after

surgery. im now 3 years post op and still wearing a retainer

(removable brace) on a night, but in my experience it is a small price

to pay.

everyone is different tho and it will also depend on your ortho. As i

was only 13 when i got braces i had to wear them longer, as my ortho

and surgeon had to make sure that i had stopped growing before they

did the jaw surgery, so this can affect the time too.

i hope this helps.

If you need any other help just ask.

Kind regards

Hi Kat!

Thanks for your message. Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been on

in a few days, I hadn't realised the forum was so busy!

I get my braces on next Tuesday so wish me luck! I am 25 and I'm

hoping that my teeth will move fairly quickly.

Are you in the UK? I'm just guessing this from your name. I'm in the

UK and wasn't sure if any others were as it seems to be a largely US-

centric forum.

Thanks to everyone else for your replies too, I feel a lot more

confident about the whole knowing that there are so many others

going through the same thing and coping well :)

Take care,
