medications and how they affect us all differently...

I noticed Bruce commenting how he reacts differently to the hydrox...whatever

med. I react to prednisone, lisinipril, lortab, percoset, morphine. I was

given some lortab for my muscle pain. I watch it like a hawk because I know I

can react violently to some of that pain medication (vomiting and

disorientation). I keep my pain meds to an absolute minimum... only when I

absolutely HAVE to have relief. So far, it has been working. Because the

lortab will positively knock me out and I can have vomiting spells with it I am

always sure to have something in my stomach to keep it from making me sick.

Because it will knock me out, I try to reserve it for bedtime when I will want

to go to sleep quickly. I go through all of my rituals, the flossing and

brushing of teeth, the cleansing of my Cpap and all of my night time medications

taken care of before I hit the hay. I make sure I have had a full glass of

water with the meds and take care of bathroom duties as well. My GP is well

aware of my reactions to medications and has me split some dosages and checks

side affects because she knows I react to many. That was the original reason

for the Hyzaar as opposed to the Lisinipril. I watch my oxygen closely as I am

still relatively new to this PF thing and don't want it to sneak up on me. Just

like diabetes, PF can react to stress, diet and exercise (and oxygen sat levels

as well). I guess that is a watch word for newbies... remember that we all

react differently and you have to weigh what you know about yourself against the

personal experiences, though I do have to tell you, it is so nice to have a

group that can give you a 'heads-up' on potential concerns and pointers.

Love you all - again Happy New Year!
