Hey, yes I did get my splint out last week. It is wonderful. I can eat

anything I want except for things like steak, to hard to chew. I'm

only wearing one band on the left side to bring my back teeth

together. The rest of my bite is right on. Ortho said six more months

in braces. Everything is going fine, no problems (knock on wood). How

are you progressing? Hope everything is smooth sailing. Mine has been

uneventful except for the depression. I had to get on some medicine. I

don't know why having surgery makes you depressed, but I was. I guess

you feel like with this surgery, things will never end. And then I get

on here and hear of all these problems people are having and that is

depressing. I feel for them. Well, time to go to work. Talk to ya

later. Tonya

Hey Tonya,

Sorry I haven't gotten to you sooner. I am so hapy

for you that your splint is out. I could not imagine

having that in my mouth for that long! :) And

congrats on the eating...I am allowed to chew only

really, really soft foods, and I have a problem with

even those! And six months in braces is not bad at

all!

As for me, I have felt like I have taken a few steps

back in the recovery department. Yes I have been

given permission to chew the softest foods, and yes I

can open my mouth wider, but ANY time I move the

muscles in my face near my chin, I get this

excrutiating pain on the left side of my jaw. And

when I touch my lower lip, I get pain down into my

chin...the only time I can feel anything in my chin is

when it is painful...other than that I have no

feeling! My nights have gotten worse and I went home

from work yesterday at 3:30 (I got home at 4:30) and

went to bed...I woke up at 7:00 to eat dinner and go

straight back to bed. I had a really bad headache and

I just couldn't take sitting up for long, I had to lay

down. I am hoping the pain is just because my bones

and nerves are regenerating themselves and that is why

it is hurting. But I go to see my OS on Wednesday.

Thankfully, like you my OD said that I had a perfect

bite...I am only wearing bands to correct the slight

deviating in my midline. They honestly said that I

would only be in braces for a few weeks after they

started ortho back up - Oct. 11. I am happy about

that, but that is about all. I get exhausted SO

easily and I just hurt.

BTW, did you have a genio? Is your lip/chin numb? If

it is...do you ever get this sensation after talking

too much that your lip/chin have gotten tight and you

can't move it at all anymore? I just wanted to know

if that is normal.

Sorry to bring you down more. Hopefully I will be

feeling better soon. And Hopefully your recovery

keeps going well.

Thanks,

Austria
