Guest guest Posted October 24, 2005 Report Share Posted October 24, 2005 Jo, I had the sensation you described against my upper palet rather than on my gums...maybe a little bit immediately after i got unbanded. my doctor told me that it might be due to the fact that with my jaw in its new position i was now breathing in a lot more easily and therefore getting more air in from my nose and that my palet wasn't used to the air hitting it especially with all the nerves being numb and that as my nerves regenerated it would get better...sounds weird, i know. but it has gotten better and is almost gone. have you mentioned any of this to your doctor? Guest guest Posted October 24, 2005 Report Share Posted October 24, 2005 Hi Jo, What you are describing doesn't sound unusual to my experience. Not exactly the same, but similar. I am aware of my sinuses and my upper gums/roots leading into my teeth- moreso particularly on one side than the other. I think that is due to my upper palate being split and widened. Afterwards, one side has regained a greater degree of sensation than the other. Anyway, the sensations have decreased with time, but I still have them a little bit. My experience isn't so much with casual breathing. It was markedly pronounced when blowing my nose, or blowing more forcefully out of my nose. It wasn't so much pain either... more just experiencing feeling where I never had before and the sensations being entirely unpleasant and sort of disturbing, but not painful per se. As I think about it, I did have a period of time when brushing was painful/unpleasant on my upper front teeth due to sensation at the roots caused by the brushing..... Anyway, I hope this helps you at least to not feel alone or a tad more reassured. Feel free to ask any more questions to compare experiences.
