Guest guest
I wouldn't assume that your going to have a problem with Hanger. There have been some negative experiences, but some babies have had good results as well. It might help if someone on the board has gone to the same office as you and can comment on their experience. Does your insurance have any out-of-network benefit? I don't think HMO's usually do. That's more of a PPO thing, but I could be wrong. Maybe you should call the insurance company and ask. That would give you more options. I was able to get my insurance to pay, but I had to pay up front and get reimbursed. I used Care Credit (a medical credit card) because they have an introductory 0% interest offer as long as you pay it off in time. Of course, if you don't pay it off in time, the interest rate is very high. If you are interested in that, their website is http://www.carecredit.com. I know that Cranial Tech takes Care Credit, because that's who I went to. They gave me 12 months to pay it off before the interest started. > > My daughter Lily is 7 months old and she needs to get a band. Her dr automatically referred us to someone whom has an office within his practice, Cranial kids. I believe they use the starband. However, my insurance company will cover the band if we go through Hanger. I can't believe I am only researching this now, but I did not realize there were different ones. I went there this week but I have to go back next week b/c they did not have the machine to measure her head, they share it with another office. After now doing some research I am very nervous. I did not ask any questions I just figured they were all the same. From what I am reading they are not. I have read positive things about Hanger and plenty of negative. It seems like the one major componenet is the orthotist. I was thrilled that the insurance company would cover it, b/c most people said it would not. I want to do what is best for my child, not what is economically best. I will take any advice anyone can give. >
Guest guest
Thank you ! Unfortunately I have not been able to get any feedback about my local Hanger as of yet. However, I did look into my insurance. I do have a PPO and I have an out of network fee as well as an 80/20 deductable. It appears that I will get something back after I pay for it all up front. So I guess that does open up my options a little more. I have heard great things about Cranial Tech, unfortunately they are over an hour away. Guest guest
Maybe you could check them out and see if you feel like it's worth the drive. Your plan sounds similar to mine. I was able to convince my insurance to cover it as in-network even though it is out-of-network and got reimbursed at 90%. They said it was " an out-of-network professional service claim processed as in-network. " I don't know what that means, but appartently " professional service claim " was the magic term in my case. It doesn't hurt to ask the insurance. Even getting some money back is nice. > > Thank you ! Unfortunately I have not been able to get any > feedback about my local Hanger as of yet.
