Feeding Question

Okay everyone - here's a good question. My poor dear husband is

exhausted. He has problems with bouts of insomnia as it is - but,

now that we have to get up in the middle of the night to feed Ian at

2 am - he's not been able to get to sleep again. It's been horrible

for him. The problem is that I've been SO exhausted since we have

gotten home from Ian's recent illness, I've been sleeping VERY hard

at night. LOL My dh sais that I don't even move! LOL Anyway, we

have been giving Ian his Nutren Jr for his ng feeds. From what I

gather, it can only " stand " for 4 hours at a time - otherwise it

goes bad. We were originally doing 45 ml for 8 hours - which worked

perfectly. Now, we have to do 36 ml for 10 hours and we haven't

started doing that yet because we haven't figured out how to do the

Nutren in a time that will work. Does that make sense? How long

can the " formula " really sit in the bag? Any suggestions? What

happens when we have to do continuous feeds with a G-tube?

As far as my helping my dh in the middle of the night - I might have

to sleep in Ian's room because I can't even hear the alarm go off

while I'm sleeping! We definately have to figure something out!

Thanks in advance for your help.

- H

Judith - you have no idea how happy you have made me - and probably

more so my husband. Thank you so much for your response. I'll send

my husband to bed tonight with a tylenol PM!

Thanks again.
