Hi ! The doctor must have called soon after we talked on the

phone earlier. I am glad things are working out. Let me know if

you need more formula. Abby's formula intake has decreased so I

have extra if you need it. Call me at home or on my cell, I will be

in Plainfield on Saturday (tomorrow).

I hope you feel better soon!

keep our appt for Thursday. They can do the MIC-key, but not in a

one step process like the Bard. So either I could leave surgery with

the long tube, and go back in 8 weeks getting the MIC-key button, or

leave surgery with the Bard button, and go back in 8 weeks and get

the MIC-key. So I suppose I'd rather have the Bard button than a

long tube for the 8 weeks. That would be nice to get the MIC-key

right away like did, but oh well, this is better than

waiting for a rescheduled appt. At least I'll still end up with what

I want, and I'll have the experience of the Bard. And he said, since

the Bard button can be painful to take out, he puts the kids under

light anesthesia first. I'll let you guys know how everythong goes!

Hi Amy,

You're so sweet! We should be fine. I'm sorry Abby's intake went down. I'm

still trying to figure out a good surprise to send her in the mail. I know how

exciting it is for kids to get mail, (so don't tell her), and I will feel better

about you making me take that case of formula for free! Seeing Abby gave me so

much more hope for Dasia, at almost 2 she's still not walking as her main way of

getting around, and Abby is such a little fireball, happy as can be, and all

over the place. Nothing is stopping her! She's perfect and beautiful. I'm glad

we got to meet. We'd love to see more pictures. With the new yahoo set up, in

order to add pictures we have to delete the old folder and create a new one. I

am feeling a little better, thanks! Talk to you later!

I've been following your journey to a gtube with some interest as Dasia will

be the same age and nearly the same size my daughter Alyssa was when her

tube was placed just over two years ago. We can home with the long tube

(foley tube, I believe is the term) and changed to the button a few months

later after her site had healed. It really wasn't that bad. Since Alyssa

was pretty active we didn't want a bard because of the great difficulty

keeping it closed and thereby keeping Alyssa dry. We basically taped the

tube to her diaper to keep it from hanging loose or catching on things.

After all she was hooked up to her pump 22 hours a day, which meant there

were only 2 hours when she didn't have a tube coming out of her stomach

anyway!! It's true that we had to secure her foley tube to her diaper those

2 hours, but it really was not a big deal considering she was hooked to her

pump the other 22 hours! We rarely had any leakage and her site healed

very nicely. The best part was, changing from the tube to the button was

not very painful and only took about 1 minute. Changing from a tube to a

button didn't require additional healing time because the exchange did not

harm her site.

I just wanted to share our experience. I hope her surgery goes very well!

Thank you Dayna for all of your help through everything. The Bard button does

sound like a nightmare for the pumps. I was more worried about Dasia pulling on

the tube or it getting caught on something, being a sore unhealed site. From the

website I posted to H there is a form of tape called new skin that is applied to

burns and is breathable, I thought I could keep this around the button and tape

the button down over it if I need to prevent the button from coming undone. I

hope it works out. Our Dr sounds very confident that I'll be happier with it

than the tube. You've been a huge support, thank you. And thank you to everyone

who have been here for us!

The most important thing is that you are comfortable with your choice and

were able to make it knowing all the pros and cons of your choices. I know

that Dasia will do great, and so will you! Your world will change, but it

can be a good change and Dasia will adapt very quickly!! Good Luck!!
